Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

Just a sore arm today. I've heard the 2nd one can be more bothersome.

Completely anecdotal per my daughter: first shot made her tired for 3 hours, second shot made her feel flu-like for 3 days.

The USG is telling employees to schedule their shots for Fridays because they assume they will be useless the next few days.

I think I heard the GF say that the Union told her to take the next day off after her second shot. With her below average immune system I expect her to not do well with it for a couple of days.

So my otherwise uber-healthy, athletic, 18-year-old second cousin just got out of an intensive round of testing at Johns Hopkins. She's had some undiagnosed neurological disorder for nearly a year, and has been wheelchair-bound since May. Their diagnosis is that she's one of these:

COVID-19 and POTS: Is There a Link? | Johns Hopkins Medicine

Just like the flu, right?

The good news is that they do believe she will be able to walk again some day with proper PT and OT.

Keep the masks on, folks!

She got this from Covid and not the vax or the vax itself??

NEW overnight: The Pfizer vaccine was found to be 85% effective 15-28 days after the *first dose* in preventing symptomatic disease. The study out of Israel also found a 75% reduction in symptomatic and asymptomatic infection after the first dose.

Pfizer Vaccine Is Highly Effective After One Dose and Can Be Stored in Normal Freezers, Data Shows
The vaccine generates robust immunity after one dose and can be stored in ordinary freezers instead of at ultracold temperatures, according to new research and data released by the companies.

This is outstanding news! I was hopeful that the rather onerous processes involved would be lessened as we move on - we had options to test a million different ways of storage, transportation and efficacy... or test quickly and thoroughly on a single, golden path and get it released quicker. We made the 100% right decision, but I'm very glad that we're now testing whether or not "non-standard" methods are still effective.

Second dose for me tomorrow. First dose had no side effects, but I’m expecting some this time.

Got my second dose at 8AM yesterday. My arm was a little sore this time, and starting yesterday afternoon I started to feel a little "off" but nothing significant. Id say today I feel a little fatigued. No fever or significant muscle aches.

Pfizer or Moderna?

Went to a specialist appointment today. As I was waiting for elevator, an old man pushing his wife in a wheelchair were ahead of me. As a courtesy, I stayed out of elevator to wait for next one. Covid and all.
guy says I’m welcome to come in, so I did.
he then says “we’re not afraid. We’re not democrats.”

And suddenly it went from a dangerous situation for them to a dangerous situation for you.

I mean they looked about as decrepit as price Philip but ***

they didn’t look like great candidates to fight this off despite being not afraid

Buffalo Sabres defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen told Finnish publication Ilta-Sanomat that COVID-19 has severely hampered his conditioning.

“I've had every possible symptom. It got really bad at times, but I'm still kicking. From what I've heard around the league, no-one has had it the way I have. My oxygen levels had fallen badly and doing anything at all resulted in immediate exhaustion. After a couple of days, the symptoms eased and I thought I was getting over it, but soon enough I was having more chest pains and other symptoms.

At times I was in a very disturbing state. When I had chest pains and I walked up a flight of stairs, it felt like my heart would split. A couple of times when I went to sleep, I wasn't at all sure whether I'd wake up in the morning. I'd just hope this wouldn't be it for me.... Right now I spend most of my time asleep. I go to bed at 8pm. After 12 hours of sleep, I feel like I've slept for 5 minutes. During the day I go to the practice facility to exercise a bit, then come back home to sleep. It's not the ideal situation but there's nothing I can do.”
