The one benefit to the rapid tests - false negatives and all - is that they can be performed significantly more often than the PCR tests. If we had a federal government that was interested in doing its job, we could have zillions of these machines everywhere and we could all be tested constantly. Even if I am infected but have a false negative, the chances of it being caught by someone I spread it to (or caught it from) is high and we could have a sort of track/trace/isolate program. And something approaching a normal life.

But no, Trump is too busy on twitter, whining about how unfairly he's being treated and watching Fox News. South Park really nailed the depiction of him last week - "I'm actively doing nothing."

Deaths and Hospitalizations data is what should be monitored. And interestingly enough many States are either taking this data down or making it much more difficult to follow.
 
We have three choices.

1. We start testing everyone.
2. We have a vaccine.
3. We actually start wearing masks and social distancing like we fucking should have been in the first place cause the first two aren't fucking ready yet.

As of now in the US we do none of the above.

Doctrinal propaganda aims at manufacturing blind consent. Any disagreement makes you the enemy of the so-called good side. The indoctrinated can only see disagreement as a threat, since themselves aren’t even allowed to question the doctrine in the first place.

4. Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal.

Simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and staying home when sick should be practiced by everyone to reduce the herd immunity threshold. Schools and universities should be open for in-person teaching. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, should be resumed. Young low-risk adults should work normally, rather than from home. Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport and other cultural activities should resume. People who are more at risk may participate if they wish, while society as a whole enjoys the protection conferred upon the vulnerable by those who have built up herd immunity.

1. We start testing everyone? Can you even formulate a thought around this? What would that do besides create mountains more of **** poor data. What Country is testing Everyone?
2. Say we have a vaccine, what happens if one isn't ready for the masses for say one year? Then what? What if when it is ready it isn't that effective? Go check how effective some of the recent Flu Vaccines were.
3. Masks don't do anything in a general public setting. Wear one if you want, if you want to Signal your Virtue but that is about all you are doing.

My buddy had to attend a wedding, his wife’s brother or sister. Whichever, it doesn’t matter.

Me: How’s COVIowa?

Him: “I think we avoided the Rona, hopefully. We drove down and came home the same day.

“My COVID positive BIL was there, without a mask.” (insert emoji that doesn’t work here)

Me: Why did they let him into the building?
Him: “It’s Iowa, and they’re morons?

”It was outdoors (somewhat) in a giant circus tent. Still...

”I never went within 20 feet of him.”


And this, folks, is why COVID-19 will win.

Bundy, who was denied entry to the Caldwell High School stadium for not wearing a mask, watched the first half of the game against Emmett High School — where his son plays — from behind the end zone. But after school officials repeatedly insisted that he put on a mask while on school property, to no avail, they called the game.

Bundy hung around afterward, outside the stadium, and arguing with attendees about history and his right not to wear a mask.

In a video after the game was called off, Bundy compared himself to Jews in Germany in the 1930s and Black people in the Jim Crow South.

No one cares about Trump, except those that have made a virus political. Diaper Up, Team #WetTheBed, Stay Hysterical.

I choose to be part of Team Reality...that there is no way to stop a contagious respiratory illness from spreading among the population and that destroying our economy and way of life where 99.98% of most of the working age population fully recovers is nothing short of insanity.
