Some of the report key passages are:
  • The dangerousness of Covid-19 was overestimated: probably at no point did the danger posed by the new virus go beyond the normal level.
  • The people who die from Corona are essentially those who would statistically die this year, because they have reached the end of their lives and their weakened bodies can no longer cope with any random everyday stress (including the approximately 150 viruses currently in circulation).
  • Worldwide, within a quarter of a year, there has been no more than 250,000 deaths from Covid-19, compared to 1.5 million deaths [25,100 in Germany] during the influenza wave 2017/18.
  • The danger is obviously no greater than that of many other viruses. There is no evidence that this was more than a false alarm.
  • A reproach could go along these lines: During the Corona crisis the State has proved itself as one of the biggest producers of Fake News.

Jeb, so in reviewing the magazine/website you're quoting from, which was posted/written on May 29, they're saying that there have only been about 250,000 deaths from Covid world wide. That's interesting since the John's Hopkins Covid tracker has the total world wide deaths today at 422,602 (just 2 weeks after the article you quoted). I'm pretty sure it didn't double in just two weeks AND, almost every expert in this situation believes we are undercounting the number of Covid deaths by nearly 10%. Meaning, that would make the actual death total closer to 465,000. Also, in comparing the current number of Covid deaths to the deaths from flu in 2017-18 world wide, they're stating that between 1 and 1.5 million people died of flu. Interesting...here's a link to an article from an actual medical journal that disagrees with that number;

Also, don't you think that it's a little disingenuous to compare the deaths in Covid over 3 months to a total from flu over an entire year? Seriously Jeb, you really need to do better in your trolling attempts. Again I challenge you to produce the name of even a single legitimate expert in respect to this virus and how it spreads and causes death that specifically says it's no worse than the flu.

So I mentioned the cruise board before, again today when Florida has more raises in positive test, that its more about the testing increase.

ignoring the hospitalization and deaths going up, too.

And ignoring the news that Florida planned on suppressing data.

it’s going to be a while until travel is going to be safe.

Handy, that wasn't me was it? I tried not to and, it doesn't look as though I quoted Jeb but, if I did I apologize. I had a hard enough time figuring out the previous format and am still trying to come to grips with the changes here.

Numbers are starting to go up in the UP (slowly, as more people are moving about now). And the National Guard out of Marquette held training a week ago were they had one confirmed case who participated in the drills. Word has it that the guard didn't practice social distancing or wear masks when on their drills.

Maybe just take it offline with jeb. You're the only person here who thinks he is arguing in good faith. I think he is a troll who gets off on attention and distraction and the only way to deal with a child like that is ignore it until (a) it goes away or (b) a bigger troll slams its head into the pavement.

The notion was discussed at some length during a meeting of the administration’s coronavirus task force in the White House Situation Room Thursday that focused, in part, on identifying commonalities between new outbreaks, according to two administration officials familiar with the discussions.



COVID-19 cases are currently rising in nearly half of states across the country, according to an Associated Press analysis. That includes Arizona, where hospitals have been told to prepare for the worst, and Texas, which now has more hospitalized patients than ever.

Sigh. I live in a blue state but my town is blood red. I called today to find out about Town Meeting- I was told they could not do this outside because they were unable to accommodate Handicapped people (creative but false). They are however going to have us in the enclosed auditorium that has NO outside ventilation and are going to provide a room for people who don't want to wear masks. Curiouser and curiouser. It is mandated to wear a face covering in our State. This just shows you how we roll here.

The State has put out guidelines that basically say try to do this remotely. The Town Clerk told me they had a hard enough time making zoom work for the board meetings. it was too confusing. Then she told me if people were able to stand in line for the market this shouldn't be a problem. This was unwise on her part. I may have used language that included the male of the cow species.

One Selectperson is a nurse- she has been trying to get them to be reasonable- nope. I messaged her, called the State Senator and State Rep. Both of whom were 'unaware'.
 
People should start experimenting with holding town meetings on Zoom. Invite the pols but host it yourself and enforce legitimate Roberts rules. Have the participants decide the agenda. If pols want to sit it out fine, they don't get their say. Make them easy to access and interesting and start rolling up big numbers and they'll come. When they try to throw their weight around tell them they're just another participant, take it or leave it.
 
Jesus, the red states are really starting to blossom. Today's leaders in new cases. Every one of these states has more cases than NY, NJ, CA:

Our town has been a kicking screaming mess trying to keep the people who are not born into the fiefdom from being able to vote. They change the date of the meetings, they have gone against a referendum result that overwhelmingly passed and took it under advisement and then held a special meeting at a time that would least be likely to have people come, they had the police in full gear show up and ring the auditorium when we were voting on a police issue.... The last thing they want is easy access voting.

For the epidemiologist and medicals on here-
Just got a call from the gal* who tested positive many weeks ago. She insisted on antibody tests. She is still positive- her IgM is 1.1. Cut off is 1. She has been out and about, including to a restaurant outdoors, despite knowing she is positive. She wants my opinion because it is only 0.1 above the cut off and she thinks it has been long enough. She claims to have no sx. I have no idea what her #s were before so no idea of trending.

From everything I am seeing there are cases with persistent antibodies but they aren't sure of how infectious it is. My comment to her was she has no idea how she got it- she was ridiculously careful- so how does she know being careful would be enough if she is contagious.

*the twist to this- she is calling me for advice. Her bro is the guy who is in charge of the DPH in this town who is advising them on Town Meeting. SO she calls me but not the guys who is obviously unqualified to be deciding the town situation
