Re: Covfefe-19 The 10th Part: Might As Well Reject No Shirt, No Shoes While You're At

Companies shouldn't have to compete with the 1.1X - they're competing with $0, so there should be no reason they'd have to offer more than the original $X. If their employees can't do that math, then they can probably hire other people who *can* do math for $X.

To me, it depends. If they are asking their employees to have a higher risk of getting sick anEsd potentially dying, I think they should be competing with the 1.1x. Especially when the bonus should be running out when the risk has gone down enough to not be a problem.

Especially for companies who didn't even attempt to keep paying their employees when they shut down.

The number of companies who are willing to sacrifice their employees heath so that they can make money is getting larger every day- at least the ones we find out about.

Legally and morally speaking, you are correct. In 2020, no. There are no certifications or audits on claims.
Huh.

How @#$%@$# hard would it be for companies to report, "Yes, I laid off SSNs X, Y, and Z" and then 6 weeks later, "I recalled X and Y" and for X's and Y's benefits to disappear?

Google or Facebook could have that **** programmed this afternoon.

Again, the problem with this is that those nurse's aides, grocery workers and truck drivers who actually are keeping us alive are getting shafted by their colleagues who are claiming benefits (background checks have been waived, so nobody is checking this year to see if you could work or not). Why not send the benefit to everyone rather than helping only the shirkers? The people going out to work essential jobs are spending more $ anyway by getting up off the couch and driving, eating fast food, and whatnot, but they're being penalized for it. Literally dozens of my daughter's grocer colleagues have quit over the last few months and brag to her that they're earning a lot more now that they are doing the critical work of sitting on the couch watching soaps and eating bon bons. And she's double-shifting to cover for them.

edit: sorry u/WeAreNDHockey, it looks like you were being perfectly reasonable but for some reason I quoted your thoughts as a question to be answered by my rant. Not sure why.
They're not getting shafted by those sitting at home. They're getting shafted by their employers, who pay them **** wages.

You wanna get angry about it, target the right people.

I said the other day...I know someone who literally walked out of their job and is getting unemployment. Right now everything is so backlogged they dont have the time to even check applications they just waive everyone through.

I saw a headline this morning, "Wisconsin is a failed state." But seriously, why pick on Wisconsin? The United States is a failed state.

Not all of them. Here's a handy guide:

I can assure you this is not true everywhere. I have had members who attempted this and got squat, and another member who was fired (technically not eligible, even with coronavirus stimulus) and they were denied. Some states have not had the same overwhelming demand, and some states do it better and more efficiently.

After a couple relatively good days regarding death numbers, looks like they're creeping back up again.

Or are the weekend numbers skewed a bit? Just cause, weekend, and all that?

The local maxes on worldmeter have actually been midweek:

April 24
May 1
May 8
May 15

It's been a very consistent pattern. Of course there are two lags:

Infection --> Case --> Death

so the death numbers trace to infections 2-3 weeks ago. But it's interesting the pattern is regular.

States that did badly today, relative to recent history: OH, IN

States that did well: CA, CT

Well, based on what I saw out on my return to work today, the second/third week of June is going to be very interesting.

"I don't respond to her. I think she's a waste of time."

He's pi55ed. He'll be Tweeting an insult back at her before dawn tomorrow. :D

He's going to rage about it; Nancy has had his number for 2 years. It's been great to watch her twist the POS.

Trump voiced opposition to extending the unemployment bonus. I therefore admit I was in the wrong, and fully support extending it. I can admit when I’ve made a clear mistake.

Tell Dump that Obama would've ended it. That will make him extend it. :)

Yeah weekends and Mondays are light but Tuesday always reasons and the rest of the week stays around there. It's why no one gets exited when Sundays seem to be low.

Re: Covfefe-19 The 10th Part: Might As Well Reject No Shirt, No Shoes While You're At

Whelp, I learned today that COVID fired a shot across the bow of my life.

We the first positive test in the warehouse that I work (but not on my shift) for COVID. Obviously no names were released, but we were told what shift and I do cross paths with people from the shift where the sick person works as they are leaving at the same time as I start. It's a scary thought. Thankfully I work Sat-Tue so I got a few days to sit back and reflect on this.

Gonna be real interesting to see how people react to this. Being blue collar work my shift is an interesting mix of outright Dumpies and early 20's Bro-Dudes that are share some of the Dumpies stupid beliefs but they aren't necessarily politically motivated.

May your own sanitary procedures save you from catching this.
