Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Hand sanitizer is good, but not as effective, if I recall correctly, at least for the coronavirus. Could be wrong on that last part. I know soap is amazingly effective at killing it.

Soap is very effective against many types of virus, including coronavirus because of their lipid envelope. Hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol is also effective.

Went back to work today, sucked. Felt ok, but hard to get back into the swing of it after being on the shelf so long.

But yes, town is a ghost town. Governor today restricted all restaurants to just take-out. You can walk into McDonald's, but just counter service to go. I stopped in to get my morning Coke, and got handed the cup with cover already on it, and a straw. No napkins, salt and pepper packets, etc, t\out to be touched and pawed, everything comes over the counter.

Only places that were mobbed were the grocery stores, including Walmart. People going nuts. I had to get things at the end of the day. No paper towels or TP, no peanut butter, no butter or eggs, very little cheese, no pasta or sauce. No bread, I grabbed some English muffins, and found two loaves of Arnold bread on a small rack at the end of an aisle, there was nothing in the bread aisle except hamburger buns and English muffins.

Glad you are up and running, even if only on a few cylinders.

Anyone know the reason it can't live on Copper but Aluminu is OK? Someone asked this on my FB page. Being lazy and hoping someone with correct background here is capable of answering.

I remembered the first part. Couldn't remember the last part, or what was required to make the sanitizer as effective. 60%. I would hope most hand sanitizers worth their salt (i.e. sold on store shelves) would be at least 60%, but I don't know that answer either.

1. From the little I know, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or ibuprofen (Motrin) are fine, along with something like Mucinex or Robitussin is fine. Your PCP would know more, but in this regard, I think what they prescribe is similar to the flu (minus the Tamiflu, etc., obviously).
2. On average, 5 days from date of exposure. As little as 2 days, as long as 14, from what I've read.
3. You should be fine if you touch something that may have the coronavirus on it, and then you wash your hands really good for 20 seconds afterwards. Soap kills the ******* out of this thing (along with a lot of things). Hand sanitizer is good, but not as effective, if I recall correctly, at least for the coronavirus. Could be wrong on that last part. I know soap is amazingly effective at killing it.

Sanitizer has a 4-5 log (99.99%-99.999%) reduction in viral load on surfaces. Ethanol is great as long as it's 62%, 70% is probably most effective, and they don't recommend anything over 90% in any of the sources I've read. You just need to make sure you're maintaining contact for 20+ seconds and/or until it dries.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

I was just coming here to ask how you were feeling, rufus. Did you take anything specific while you were in the midst?

Just some generic Nyquil-type cold and flu tabs for the first few days. The nighttime ones helped me sleep. Once I stopped feeling feverish or chilled, I quit with those and just took acetametaphin.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Russell, got your rep. Somehow, Miss Thundercat always finds a way.

That being said, I'll try filing for unemployment, filing for disability (my foot surgery wiped out my savings, and my one case going on hold means I'm not making money during this), and seeing if I can find cashier work at a place like Aldi (their cashiers remain seated). If my other technicians need a day off, I can substitute on a case.

Also, my church is doing more with Zoom at this time. I really didn't want my Confirmation to be postponed, but if it's what needs to be done...

Oh man, I didn't realize you were down after I've been mostly out of the loop the last several days. Sounds like you're on th mend, which is good, but the symptoms you posted over the last several days sound eerily like those posted around the best sources of info on the web. But more of than not, there's a cough; but not always. Fever (99%) and fatigue (70%) are the best indicators. Cough (60%), anorexia (I'm guessing this is loss of appetite, 40%), myalgia (35%), difficulty breathing (31%), etc.

Loss of appetite and trouble breathing are indicators of more severe disease. Sore throat as well, but seeming less so.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Thanks, everyone. I do hope that:

1) everyone against socialism refuses their monthly check, I’ll be more than happy to take it.

2) Anti-Vaxer’s who get the disease refuse the treatment so there’’s more available if I or anyone in my family get it.

I’ve’ reached my breaking point to care about others

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Also, Trump said Gretchen Whitmer is a "failed governor who's done nothing" to address COVID-19.

So, closing schools, closing bars and restaurants, etc is doing nothing. F you too, Trumpy.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Someone mentioned the US broke 5000 cases this morning. I'm not sure if they are drawing from the same sources but Hopkins has it as > 5800 as of this afternoon.

That needs to be an ad.
