Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

I would have started this today-after all I have an extended winning streak of one. But i only started that one because we were attending and we rarely lose when Jenny and I are at the games. Cornell presents an entirely different type of team than we played last night. Somethings that we will have to do remain the same. Hopefully our speed line can keep them playing in their own end as they did last night. Our defense has to get the puck out with quickly made decisions and forceful passes that get us past the red line, we have to play good center ice hockey causing turnovers and giving away very few, and i think we have to play our game (like we have the past two games) and not allow Cornell and their coaching to force us into playing their style of game. We showed some of the talent we have recently since we are getting healthy again, but more importantly, we kept the rhythm of the game going and kept pressure on for almost all 60 minutes. Go Cherry and White (since Red can be misinterpreted tonight)!!

I don't have a good feeling about this thread, as it is a replacement and does not seem to have Ralph's participation.

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

SA’s & McGowan’s Post-game interview. Doc’s question from last night’s 2nd Team PP is addressed by SA..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSwFKYInbig

Thanks for posting Turk. I am so glad coach SA saw exactly what i saw. That part of the power play may have been our best minute with an extra man this year. If only we did that when we had the 5 on 3(which should have been a 6 on 3) a couple games back at the end of a game. Most games in ECAC hockey spend between 15 and 25 minutes on special teams at least and if we can find a way to use that time to our advantage like some other teams do, it would just make such a difference.

D) figuring out his income taxes
E) all or none of the above

I pick C. :) I was at my German class until 1 PM, and when I got back I started to monitor Austin Cho's game (he scored two goals) and forgot about this until now.

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

RPI women played a strong first period at #8 Clarkson, and are tied up 1-1.

Glad you are back-Would not want you to miss when we extend this winning streak to 3 in a row;). I will only be 1/2 watching as Jen and I are on a Kitty vigil. Corey(I suppose because she is a female) refuses to succumb to hyperthyroidism, congestive heart failure, chylo ascites, and incredible levels of medications that in human doses we would all be dead. I suppose being named for a hockey player (Cory) gives her that toughness. We know we will be losing her very soon (actually at any moment) but after all the accumulative losses of the past 11 months we just refuse to give up as long as she is willing to keep trying.
I can only hope the team plays one of their best games of the season as we dedicated the Princeton game to Hamish before we lost him, and the Colgate game to Corey(who we were sure would not last until today). This one today is for themselves, a third win in the ECAC would do wonders for their confidence.

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

DrD, sorry for loss, but I think that if you get anymore cats you should name them after USCHO posters ;)

Open to suggestions any time. Got any good ones for us? We have held the line for now. We do not think it fair to take in animals that may outlive us. We still rescue dogs and cats that are older but no new puppies and kittens that need names. For the older ones, we keep the names they were given previously. We are at the lowest level for us-6 cats(with one critical) and one dog(that is kept by our neighbor but we totally support and care for-Sir Benjamin George-who we did not name and was from a family of British nobility).

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

Still no lines. Changes coming?

What would you change? Miller and Fulton are hurt(and not expected back for some time). On defense, I would get Reno into the line up somewhere but the guys out there played very well yesterday and unless there is an injury or illness or SA sees something we did not, who would you sit?). For one of the few times, no one embarrassed themselves badly, although there are always mistakes made in play or judgement.

I can relate to this today. Our old dog has deteriorated quite suddenly over the last 2 weeks, and today has trouble raising her head. Hopefully just an illness from which she will recover but I'm afraid it may be a failing heart.

Knowing it's Cornell, I'd like to see us keep some size out there. BTW, did you see that in league play, Cornell averages about 22 minutes of penalties per game? And it was really enjoyable watching the young guys on the power play last night... Hey, just sayin.'

In the SA/MMcG post-game interview, I liked that McG talked about 'being a hard team to play.' This is what the ECAC is about down the stretch... unless your team is having a magical year you play hard, remember the kind of team you are and play to that coda night in and night out. As OGC said in the interview, 'you may not always get results when you play your way' but you end up with a positive result more often than not when you stick to your process.

Re: Cornell@RPI 1/17/15

Final score from Potsdam: RPI women drop a 4-2 game to Clarkson. Game got very chippy in the last few minutes...it will be interesting to see if any of that carries over to the return engagement at HFH two weeks from now.
