Cornell Big Red @ North Dakota Fighting Hawks, 1/7/22

Coach Schafer reports a tough week in practice. Two of the Big Red's top scorers will not play: Ben Berard and Matt Stienberg. Others will play injured. Ian Shane will start in goal.

North Dakota is one of the teams that has profited by transfers: six including goalie, Zach Driscoll.

Jack O'Leary substituting in the starting lineup for the Red.

North Dakota students still on break, but a healthy crowd still expected. The Red's Cody Haiskanen, a North Dakota native, will have friends and family in the crowd.

Pretty good hockey game so far. Very few whistles, a lot of up and down action. Both teams have had some good chances, but nothing has found the back of the net just yet.

0-0

7:24 left in the 1st.

Refs are letting the teams play. There have been a few hits that could have been called for minors, but for the most part it was a whistle-free first period.

1-0 North Dakota after 20 minutes of play.

I'm enjoying the game so far. I like the way NoDak plays and the teams' styles complement each other.

Second period underway. ECAC decimated by COVID with all league games postponed and only one other non-league game played (Colgate loss to Northern Michigan 2-4).
