The great recession? I certainly think it was a possibility either way.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Too little, too late. The PDs already have the tanks and ammunition they need.

Like a Third World army, without training, maintenance and resupply that materiel will be useless after a few years.

They've been training with the US military for the past few years; funded by the SPLC.

This has to be a bit, right? He can't actually believe this...

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Your concept of the SPLC is hysterically funny.

They are the ones that are funding the sending of representatives to police departments to not only give this training, but to make sure the cops are brainwashed to believe that Constitutionalists are the enemy. See the recent happenings in Spokane WA.

I wouldn't worry about the cops when the whip comes down. They seem to break about 80/20 as Gadsden flag types.

And therein lies part of the problem with your Grand Unified Theory of conspiracies: the men in black are, more often than not, spouting the same gibberish that you do. :)

There aren't enough active military to put the entire country under martial law and send dissidents to the FEMA camps. They need the help of someone, and as much as I'm sure there are some here willing to sell their information in return for temporary amnesty (which won't last long because everyone you're ratting on is locked up, there's no more use for you), they'll use the National Guard militias and cops. Indiana cops have been reported to regard veterans as enemies of the state (search for it if you're skeptical), Spokane is targeting Constitutionalists, Jade Helm is going after vigilante militias, California is training to deal with "sovereigns", the list goes on and on.

If you're talking about guys who make pipe bombs and send threatening letters to city hall, yeah, I'm all for going after them.

I think what you've got here is (1) a handful of Beer Hall Putsch wanna-bes -- maybe 1k , (2) a larger group of freedom furries playing out their Heinlein basement fantasies -- let's say 100k, and then (3) an even larger group of NRA bumpersticker bumpkins -- let's say 10M.

(1) The smallest subgroup is just this decade's version of rightwing thugs and they really should be on an FBI surveillance list.

(2) The middle guys are hex grid warrior sad sacks who like listening to Alex Jones because he makes them feel like they're at the Center of the Conspiracy Web rather than out beyond the periphery of loserville; they talk a good game but they'd be crestfallen to realize that nobody's interested in them except for prepper direct mail retailers.

(3) And then the largest, outer group is the Greater Derpasphere, whose most dramatic political act is trudging down to the elementary school every two years to vote the creationist back on the schoolboard. Other than being suckers for the latest ammo crisis or O'Reilly new book, they're indistinguishable from the rest of the country, except they'll vote for whoever has the "R" after his name. No FEMA camps for them either, sorry, but lots of little blue pills for their failing manhood.

Maybe a good idea?

(NYC) Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is behind a controversial proposal to grant amnesty to more than 1 million people with open warrants for low-level offenses.

But some experts worry it could cause crime to skyrocket.

First he called for reduced penalties for smoking marijuana. Now, Bratton wants to explore granting amnesty to 1.2 million city residents with open warrants for low-level offenses, people who run the risk of being arrested for failing to resolve tickets for drinking in public, disorderly conduct and the like, CBS2’s Marcia Kramer reported Monday.

There is one statistic that shows the magnitude of the problem. Last year, of the hundreds of thousands of tickets that were given out for low-level offenses, fully 40 percent of the people either skipped the proceedings or didn’t show up, Kramer reported.

Several members of the City Council, concerned with police-community relations, said amnesty is an idea that should be looked at seriously. Council Public Safety Chair Vanessa Gibson said she favors doing something to eliminate a backlog that includes some summonses a decade old.

“I think it would be a very delicate conversation where we want to find the right balance,” said Gibson, D-Bronx. “We also want all New Yorkers to respect the laws we have on the books because laws are meant to be implemented. They’re meant to be enforced.”

I would say if you have a backlog of 1.2M outstanding warrants, there's a problem with your legal code. If everyone is breaking a law, the problem may be the law.
