For the record, it looked like the right call from here.
The NCAA rulebook clearly states that if you check someone from behind into the boards or the net, and it's penalty-worthy, it's an automatic 5. Only the misconduct or DQ is at the referee's discretion. Mr. Henning needs to review an NCAA rulebook. They've been cracking down on this for 5 years now.
Wietecha got a misconduct.
