a 49-0-0 season, even in a cbb forum deserves some respect, so with only one post, I need not miss a single record.
BRANDT'S BANK SHOT
DC may take a little while getting back to you... she was last seen putting a few back at the Gopher post-game party.
Except of course the perfect (undefeated) season - that record can never be broken, only tied!
I'll be the first to admit that this record will most likely last a lifetime, but would a 42-0-0 down the road not be better than 41-0-0 ?.
The more interesting thing to see is how long the actual streak will last. That is why I posed the DC question yesterday, because my guess is that the longest streak other than the current Minny one belongs to the UNH teams of the late 70's and early 80's. Hopefully someone will be able to look that one up.
Wisconsin on two separate occasions had 32-game unbeaten streaks (I think it was 32, if it was 31 then sorry, my head is tired.) The longest winning streak in the NCAA era was 21 by Harvard in 2008.I don't think there has been another team that comes close to this, other than the current Minnesota winning streak of 49.
(IIRC, Wisconsin had a 32 or 36 game winning streak a few years ago, hopefully a WCHA expert will be able to fill those details).

Tough act to repeat, but Never say Never Again. Records are always made to be broken.

Sure...completely comparable to 41-0-0 in 2012-2013 D-I.After my research this morning, need to adjust my statement: "Records are always made to be broken" to "This matches some records set by UNH years ago".
Minnesota did record a record with the most wins in a undefeated season at 41-0-0, but they were not the first with a perfect season. That distinction goes to UNH who set the initial record of a "Perfect" season with their 15-0-0 in 77/78. UNH also holds the record of most "Perfect" seasons at three, and had two perfect seasons in a row in 79/80 and 80/81. So there was more than one Miracle on ice in 1980 . In addition UNH holds the longest winning streak in at 56 games.

More interesting than what this team has done? I think they've proven all they could be asked to prove and honestly don't see a big connection between their season and what a completely different team might do in 2013-2014. I understand there will be those watching if the 2013-2014 Gophers win a few of their first games. Just don't see that as terribly significant or closely related to this teams accomplishment. The more interesting thing to see is how long the actual streak will last. Who all did UNH play during their old winning streaks? I would guess there were many club-level teams on their schedule, probably D3 also and maybe the Little Sisters? Are those wins included? Did the girls wear hockey skates back then?

I'll just savor being witness to something special...maybe do that victory dance mentioned so long ago, document the travels of the Championship Belt which shouldn't take long at all, then start fresh next September.
The cool kids always arrive later (I was either there early or just stayed home. )The West had not even discovered the Women's college game. They were late to the party.
It's already remarkable, because nobody has every defeated 49 straight D-I opponents previously, and thus, we are remarking on it.I would think that if Minnesota can break that winning streak of 56 games, if would be a truly remarkable accomplishment.
