My Dell laptop is 7 years old now and just within the last couple months has the battery started to not last as long. I have had to replace the power cord about 3 times though. but that is because I wear out the cord right by the plug by bending the wires too much during normal use.

Decided to buy a new power brick - we'll see if it fixes the problem. If not, I'll open the thing up and see about soldering, but I'd rather not since this is my only functioning computer. Definitely will back it up in the next few weeks.

I can't find it now so I thought this was a good place to ask. Someone posted a link to a pretty cheap laptop. I'm looking to get one for my mom for christmas.

http://newegg.com usually has good deals and is a great source for anything computer-related (they have more non-computer stuff lately than in the past, but I'd never think to go there for that stuff). Tiger Direct appears to have good deals (get their emails, but can't remember actually buying anything there).

Yeah I know about those 2 places but for some reason I thought what someone had posted was cheaper and actually a pretty good setup.

Might have been from woot.com - but it'd be gone by now (they sell one item per day til its either sold out or 24 hours have passed).
