Shaskeen is an excellent pub, very authentic (it's co-owned by one of The Cheiftains). The Wild Rover around the corner is great, too. More sports themed Irish pub.

Piccolo Italia is as good as any place in Boston's North End for traditional red sauce Italian. Highly recommneded, and prices are reasonable.

It's a local chain, but the British Beer Company on South Willow has good pub food, a tremendous selection of imported beer on draught, and live music. It gets pretty crowded in there.

I found a nice garage on granite street via google maps... Probably where I end up parking... Though I do have a pre-party alum discussion w a uml staff member further up the road. We'll see. It does look nice and easy and across the street from Murphy's.

Unfortunately, one of the best spots to park is the Citizen's Bank (the former Amoskeag Bank Building) garage. However, they will still be open when you arrive for the first game so they probably won't let you park there. For those going to the second game - it is a good location - you can walk to most everything - and it is free. It would also be available on Saturday.

Beware Manchester street parking regulations, they differ from block to block so be sure to put enough money in the meter or in the parking machine.

I spent a year working in ManchVegas (or Manchhattan) and I will second the hanover chop house. pretty good. Same with Red Arrow and Cesarios.

I think the Hilton Garden Inn is the best hotel. I actually lived there 4 days per week that year and was there from opening night - the corner suites on each floor are great if you can get one, even though there won't be any baseball games going on.

I don't see it mentioned here, but for those who like good beer at cheap prices, and half price apps. from 4-7, I highly recommend the Strange Brew. I think most pints are $3 tomorrow, and not talking Bud here, but things like Hop Devil and Lagunitas IPA.

I'm thinking I might have to make a trip to Caesarios for a meatball sub and seasoned fries. I do luvs me a good meatball sub.

If heading to the coast, a good slow drive along route 1A is pretty nice.

Speaking of IPAs... For the Denver and Wisconsin folks here on a little trip... A pint of Harpoon IPA is worth a tip.

I haven't been yet myself, but if you want Mexican, I've heard nothing but good things about El Rincon. It's right across Lake Ave from the VWA.

I'm thinking either today or tomorrow heading over to KC's Rib Shack on 2nd Street (not really walk-able from downtown) to get some ribs before the game. I miss that BBQ. Sooooo gooooooooooooooooooooood.

Oh! Some other things. If you're looking for something to do on Saturday, there is a brewery in Hooksett, NH (15 minutes drive from downtown Manchester) called White Birch Brewing. They don't do tours right now but their store offers free samples! The beer is pretty good.

Going the other direction, there is a winery in Amherst, NH (20 minute drive from downtown) called La Belle. They make fruit and table wine. It's OK.

I can definitely vouch for the quality of White Birch Beer. They do some really good work and have been doing a very well-received festival for 2 years (although they're still figuring out parking).

Hey, my buddy, Bill H., is the founder and owner of White Birch Brewing. Things have gone very well for him since he left the corporate world and decided to do what he loved. Maybe I should have gone with him.

Went to Wild Rover. We had the coconut shrimp app, son had buffalo burger, I had fish and cihips.

Was a good reccomendation. Thanks.
