College Hockey Showcase - MIN, Wis, Mich, MSU

Re: College Hockey Showcase - MIN, Wis, Mich, MSU

Records in the CHS after game 1;

M 20-13-2 ***M vs Mn (9-8-0) M vs W (11-5-2)
Mn 17-13-5
MSU 14-15-6
W 11-21-3

Michigans overall record (including tourney and nonCHS games) vs Mn, W, and MSU during the duration of the CHS;

M vs Mn 12-11-0
M vs W 13-6-2
M vs MSU 34-31-12

I look at those numbers and see some really close races in the BTHC, assuming everybody beats up on tOSU and PSU equally.

I see the same thing. Keep in mind UW's numbers in this are awful mainly due to Sauer's lethargic teams.

I'd like to see Mike Eaves' record in the CHS and then vs. MSU and Umich in general (don't know how many times they've met outside the CHS since Eaves has been there)

Hey - If any of you like watching video content on college hockey, the Ferris State Bulldogs in the CCHA has 3 of their top 5 news articles featuring video.

www.FerrisStateBullogs.com/Sports/MIce

I like to browse other college hockey websites after the Friday and Saturday games to watch highlights as well as during the week to watch series previews or press conferences, thought I'd share another spot for fans to check.

Here are a few:

Let me know if you like the work so far.

Eff you, spammer...

Nice hatty for Gardiner last night as well!

Just like a becky fan. Lets only look at the years we did well. The years when we were not very good should not count. I would like to see becky's record when they didn't have anyone from Minnesota on there roster.

I think Wisconsin’s roster has always been very heavy/mostly Minnesota kids. Must burn your butt that we have been able to win more national championships with them than the Goofers have.

Actually, right now there's only 4. What's interesting is that over the years all of these kids couldn't wait to get out of that dump and come here. Can't really blame them.

gimme a break... The records at the showcase or anything else are reflective of the coaches obviously. and it's pretty much a fact Wisconsin has held their own and kicked some *** there w/Eaves. So yeah, I think Sauer's tenure tainted the record.

and you know what else is funny given your annual and huge recruiting advantage for minnesota kids (since you brought up UW winning with the MN kids like the Sean Hills, Ranheims, Fairchilds, et al)? 6>5!!!

...oh wait. are you ****y you got shellacked by MSU?

I'd like to see a Gopher fan know the difference between there and their.

So, college teams should only recruit people from their own state? Is this your argument?

Better tell Tubby as 3/4 of that roster is from outside of Minnesota. Yeah, yeah I know. You don't care about hoops.

What you might want to ask yourself is why these hockey kids continue to leave and then be better than the ones who stayed.

So...

We win the final showcase and then take the puck and go home.

:p:p:p:p:p:p

More national championships? Not really. Prior to the NCAA the Gophers won two national championships in 1929 and 1940.

Posting "6>5" makes the other poster a tool, as well. Must every argument on here be reduced to simple math involving title game performance? And does our respective teams' performance reflect on us (who don't play for them) in any way? :p

When the math favors us? YES! :D

One final thought about the showcase was when you had your little post-game scrum and both teams crowded around, it was a whole lot of ugly on the ice. Between your alternates and Michigan's extremely dated looking uni's... YUCK!

Yellow (gold, maize, mustard, stomach bile) should never be a primary color for a uniform and maize shouldn't ever be used in any quantity.

Where's the puke emoticon? Seriously Michigan, those stripes are horrible and the 1960's want them back.

So regarding the games...

This may be the most frustrating Gopher team I have ever watched. They clearly have the talent to be competitive as they showed last night versus a very good Michigan team. But then they look like a bunch of peewees regarding puck control and positional responsibility as they did in the first and third periods Friday.

ETA: Oh yeah, a little consistency in net would help too...

This coming from a guy whose team uses a skunk in a popcorn box as a mascot.

I think Michigan and Minnesota mirror each other. Barriball and Hoeffel are like Hagelin and Caporusso. There are other capable goal scorers on both rosters, but there just seems to be an overall lack of a pure goalscorer like in the past- which hasn't really hurt either team when all lines are contributing. Kangas and Patterson are on equal terms with Hogan and Hunwick.
Both teams have the ability to compete with most anyone when they want to, but have obvious deficiencies that make them pretty average: Michigan's powerplay to Minnesota's PK for instance (except yesterday). Both teams seem to have mental defensive lapses at key times that either cost them a goal or forces a penalty.
Minnesota played a disciplined, solid game... where Michigan looked uninspired and disinterested. Typical weekend for them, although tying Friday night after leading most of the game is just as bad as losing. One plus for Minnesota is that they took away Michigan's defense from any offensive chances. That seems to be the book on beating them since the forwards can't seem to find the net consistently.

Re: College Hockey Showcase - MIN, Wis, Mich, MSU

I warm the seats every weekend at the kohl. Our own players use sconnie and wisco. Where have you been? Players in the past as well. I am local. Dont hammer me until you have the facts. Nothing i have said is here is untrue. I have read your threads for a while. A lot of marginal ones. Some good. Minny gets it's feathers ruffled easily. We are one the same side.

Re: College Hockey Showcase - MIN, Wis, Mich, MSU

It would be a diservice not to give the 1929 and 1940 teams their national championship kudos.

You should get together with Cubs fans.

1908!
