College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

pgb,

What you posted about Hoke in the previous thread (in regards to Minnesota) was what I kinda figured happened when he didnt take the job after Maturi flew out to talk to him. I think when he "rejected" the offer (I put it in quotes because both sides said he was never offered the job outright) it was because someone had informed him he could have the job he dreamed of, the job he told SDSU he would leave for.

I never wanted Hoke to coach here anyways (I was vocal about this on another board) because I knew this was never the job he wanted we would be another stepping stone on his way to trying to get the Michigan job.

One of those 2011 Top 25 polls. Mildly surprised the usual suspects (USC, Florida, and Texas) didn't male an immediate return to the Top 25. Other than that, Bama seems a little high and West Virginia has no place in this poll imo.

What? No Michigan? Didn't SI get the press release that we fired RichRod and hired Brady Hoke?

Such a bummer.

A mixed spread-pro set offense might be better for Denard anyway, assuming he stays in Ann Arbor. He had over 20 carries 6 of the 13 games this past season, and that's probably too many overall. Get a decent back who can muster that kind of load and get him around 30 passes and a dozen runs for eighty yards instead.

Texas A&M #7? Umm ya, I'm gonna say no on that one.

I didn't realize that Hoke & SDSU had made overt provisions for a Michigan scenario. Interesting. And do think it's consistent with what each of us surmised.

I never wanted Hoke to coach here anyways (I was vocal about this on another board) because I knew this was never the job he wanted we would be another stepping stone on his way to trying to get the Michigan job.
I don't blame you a bit for feeling that way. Minnesota has had a tough go with this, with Holtz leaving for ND, Mason openly coveting the OSU job, etc. With Coach Kill, there's at least a chance that both sides will be happy for the long haul. Best of luck.

Don't really feel like finding a college basketball thread and this kinda counts towards football anyway...

Tuned into the Michigan-Ohio State game at halftime to see Gus Johnson interviewing Brady Hoke. At the end of it, Gus says "as a long-time Michigan fan, welcome back" (or something like that). Just seemed kinda odd for an announcer to say something like that when you're calling the game.

Lost in the announcement of Brady Hoke- Tate Forcier is no longer with the Michigan program. We know he was ineligible for the bowl game, but apparently, it has gone farther than that.

AA.com does not have any clue outside of the mention of school, as UM has mentioned academic privacy as not talking about it.

This was done in the same press conference as the Hoke hiring.

So another "student"-athelete bites the dust.

WIN

(251): I want a picture of impoverished children wearing Oregon national champions shirts.

(478): Yes, I feel sorry for the tribe that gets those. They won't be able to hide from the lions.

So I saw a headline on ESPN saying "Hoke expects Robinson to stay at Michigan"

I wanted to cry. But then I clicked the link and realized they were talking about Denard, not Greg. :p

The better one was the ESPN website after someone called Denard's HS coach so the line was "Coach: Robinson to stay at Michigan."

Well Greg had no help with poor defensive recruiting of RR.

What if they hired Greg Robinson :D?

Also in non-shocking news, Cam Newton to go pro.

And lastly, the more I watched the NC game, the more I loved Oregon's uniforms. It is something different. While most schools have classic jerseys that never change, Oregon has uniforms that constantly change.

I think he's going to be a huge bust. Hope the Redskins are dumb enough to take him.
