College Football 2025

In news that will shock no one, it sounds like Kiffin is bending some truths about his departure. Ole Miss AD says Kiffin was told weeks ago that if he decided to go somewhere else, they would not let him coach in the CFP. They would maybe make an exception for the SEC title game only had they gotten in. Also, several Ole Miss players have posted on social media that there was no one pushing/asking for him to be able to coach the rest of the season.
Also sounds like an assistant polled the other assistants weeks ago about their preferences: Stay at Ole Miss, Move to LSU/Florida, or move to FSU. The entire defensive staff voted to stay at that time. All but one offensive assistant wanted to leave for LSU or Florida.

Idaho to New Mexico isn't the same as Tulane to Florida. You will likely lose the top 2-3 players, but not an entire recruiting class - the talent levels are simply too large.
They lost most of the team to New Mexico. Which is why the vandals went from a playoff team to under .500. Tulanes best players could easily go to Florida and do well. It would not take much to improve Florida a lot.

And when Fleck went from WMU to Minnesota he took nearly an entire WMU recruiting class and most of them either couldn't cut it in the B10, or didn't see a snap on a rather bad Gopher team.

Florida currently sucks. Doing that would be a massive step up.
Disagree. Tulane lost to the only ranked team they've played, 45-10, and also lost to something called UTSA 48-26.

If Florida and Tulane played 100 times, Florida would be above .500 in those games. (and I'm a closet Tennessee fan, so I hate saying anything nice about UF)

It still can be true that a “lower” coach can take his players to a higher school and make them better. Thats what old miss is so worried about.

Indiana fan here. Our best players are JMU transfers. Aidan Fisher, Elijah Sarratt…plenty of good players at the mid-level programs.
I think JMU to Indiana is a giant exception. Cignetti knows how to recruit and IU had a very pedestrian schedule last season. Don't get me wrong - IU was a very good team last season. IU is a very good team this season too (I really want them to win the whole thing). I don't see any G5 team this season as similar to those JMU teams a couple seasons ago.
