College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Clemson and SC State chopped 3 minutes off of the 3rd and 4th quarters. It was 45-0 at the half, and they shortened the 3rd and 4th quarters to 12 minutes.

So fans pay top dollar to see their team play a lower division team in a crappy buy game, and for their trouble they end up with 10% less football than they paid for.

College football needs a new model. I wish the NCAA had a way to enforce a rule that all teams have to play an equal number of home and away games (for all sports -- college hockey and especially basketball have become less interesting). It would end "buy" games and force teams to play slightly more interesting schedules.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

A good chunk of these smaller schools would rather have the games against the bigger schools in bigger stadiums. More often than not, these smaller schools will need and use that money to balance their athletic department budgets.

You're not going to see such a rule because the member schools want things the way they are now.

#1 #2 and #3 have not lost on the same weekend in the regular season. The only time it has ever happened is during the 1966 bowl season.

Looks like Michigan will escape.

Oklahoma/Ohio State on weather delay for at least 90 minutes.

Once Colorado's QB went down it was over. That punt game was also awful. Kicking a line drive to Peppers is a great way to ensure you have zero coverage.

I've never been happier to spend the day at my best friend's 5 y/o son's birthday party.

Glad to have gone golfing today instead of seeing whatever that was the Badgers thought they were doing.

The only real shame, though, is that Beaver Stadium didn't burn to the ****ing ground.

Shades of the John L Smith years. 10th anniversary of the famous 06 collapse made me real nervous.

Stanford beats USC for the third time in 365 days, all 3 by double digits.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Defense optional in Berkeley tonight. 43-40 Cal over #11 Texas, still 10 minutes left.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Bizarre ending. Cal was up 50-43 with a minute left, with the ball 3rd&1 at their own 45. Cal player runs for apparent TD but begins celebrating early and leaves the ball at the 1. It was called a TD. Texas eventually picked the ball up. Upon review it was determined it was a fumble, but because it was not an "immediate" recovery by Texas it remained Cal ball. 50-43 final.

This latest form of showing off has apparently happened at least 3 times in the last couple of weeks. It used to be "act like you've been there before" but since that ship sailed long ago how about "at least get there before you feel the need to show off and draw the attention that is already on you to you."
