How the hell is Vandy still in the SEC?

A former AAD at a B1G school told me conferences like to keep a private school member in the conference. It creates a situation where conference meeting minutes are not FOIA discoverable as you have to protect the privacy rights of the private member even if every other seat at the table is a public. If that's wrong I was misled.

Wake Forest has had that role in the ACC, I believe

Duke.

Wake is a joke.

(Duke is a joke, too, but it's an insanely rich joke like Stanford, so it can afford to have both an army of brilliant people and a flotilla of scion morons. c.f. Harvard.)

So, is the Big XII dead?

My take: Even if they raid (AAC, MWC) and restore to 10 - 14 members, they'll not be regarded as a "power conference". And being regarded as no longer a power conference is worse than dead.

The one smart school, by conference, conferences frozen forever the way god intended in 1976:

ACC: Duke
Big 8: They're all horrible.
Big 10: Northwestern
MAC: No idea, they all look bad.
MVC: No idea, they all look even worse.
Pac 8: Stanford
PCAA: Are any of these actual schools or just football teams?
SEC: Vandy
Southern: William & Mary
Southland: Literally no idea. Is that Hedley Lamar?
SWC: Rice
WAC: Maybe UA?

Check out Mississippi State. Bet that's an interesting story.

UCSB is top 30 in the past few years.

Is that the banana slugs one? I think Dr. Mrs. had a friend who went there for a PhD in History of Consciousness which... is actually pretty cool. Except his name was spelled "Sean" and he insisted on pronouncing it "seen."

Anyway, they aint there unless that's what Pacific became.

Santa Barbara != Santa Cruz

Edit: according to Dr. Mrs. it wasn't Sean/seen, it was another guy (named "Bear" -- his birthname, not his nickname) but Bear dropped out and went to law school and became an expert in marijuana law and founded his own firm and is well on his way to his hundredth million.

So. Um. History of Consciousness.

Actually there are a million streams out there on the web for sports, but you would obviously be going to some not-so-reputable sites and likely have to stream off of a laptop to watch. But at least you could see the games.

Who asked that question?
