College Basketball 2018-19: Duke or UNC Losing Is Fine With Me.

What’s funny is I have actually agreed with you on a number of things, such as finding it ludicrous that Democrats decided it was a good idea to strip MTG of her committee assignments, or that Cuomo’s situation in NY was much more perilous than some on here believed.
But, your trolling diminishes your brand. You’re “one of us” for now, and you said so yourself since you repeatedly slapped us in the face with your “I voted for Biden” shtick. At this point, I have no idea what made you vote for him, since your trolling has only picked up here in recent weeks. I mean, at the end of the day, you do you, but you’re much more enjoyable when you’re actually having somewhat thoughtful discussions, rather than putting a hook in the water.

People can call it trolling or whatever they want. I guess I don't really care what people call it. I certainly made the gun violence post and others for purposes of needling people, because honestly, they earned it.

Here is what annoys me. It's when people blame people on the other side of the political aisle for things that ail the country, that in my opinion aren't really that easy or possible to politically fix. Things like gun violence or dealing with a pandemic. But there is this claim that if just they were put in charge, they would act to solve it, that they wouldn't just offer up "thoughts and prayers." Over the years I've always called BS on their claim, pointing out that when they've had past opportunities in the majority to act, they failed to solve the problem, or, more likely, it's not a readily solvable problem But then the ladies in the choir chime in and shout me down, and I move on.

But when the time comes, you can be sure I'm going to remind them of exactly what I said earlier. If you want to call my reminder "trolling," so be it.

Probably as much as anyone else on this board I understand the political realities of trying to get a caucus or political body to move in a direction you want it to move. I've actually worked for a state legislature. Getting legislation passed, even good legislation, is a craft that only skilled politicians have mastered. That is part of the reason I called BS every time I was told here about all the things that the D's were going to do once they had power.

So yeah, some people are going to be reminded of that.

Fair enough. I rescind calling you someone who can’t tell your as- from a hole in the ground. I bit on that hook, and despite others telling us not to quote you or engage, I still will. But while you know quite a bit about the world or what have you, plenty of others on here do too. I don’t doubt your state legislature experience gives you a unique point of view, but it should also help you recognize how broken the national GOP is at this point, and how it’s nearly impossible to pass anything anymore with bipartisan votes. Democrats certainly aren’t blameless on that, but they’re a much more mainstream, middle-of-the-road party than the GOP is at this point.

I'm sure this has been going on forever.

It is even easier now since you can just drop into their DMs on multiple social platforms. Back in the day you had to be a racist piece of sh1t from under a hood. Kids these days. /s

And see personally I cant stand watching any of this and I was betting on it today. There is zero fundamentals it is all friggin hero ball. UCLA/Bama was laughable...the decision making by both squads was face palm worthy. I remember when players like Nick Van Exel were mocked for shooting threes without any rebounders set and 20 seconds left on the shot clock...now that is what apparently passes for an offense in basketball.

I love variety, I dont give a crap about Blue Bloods or whatever...but if I wanted to watch a lot of bad defense, isolation and jacking up shots for no reason I could watch the NBA. And I know someone will say "but the scores arent that high" but that has more to do with bad shot selection than it does any sort of real defense.

Hell in OT I was openly cheering against Bama for their stupidity and I had money on them!

Now get off my lawn!!!

You should probably check in w/ the NBA once a decade or so...

100%. I've lost interest in college basketball completely. I used to have season tickets to the Goofs

Oh I have...I know that is why this has permeated the college game. Everyone wants to be Steph Curry or James Harden. It is unwatchable.

It is one of the reasons I hope the NBA gets rid of the 1 year rule. Then the hero ball type players can go to the G League and college can go back to fundamentals. The quality of players will go down but the product will improve. Happened the last time there was the mass skipping of college by the elite players. (The Garnett Era)

Juwan Howard got a traditional Rose Bowl postseason matchup in his second year, something Jim Harbaugh has yet to accomplish.

Howard is one of the few Michigan Players I never hated. I can never cheer for a Big Ten squad, but I like that he is succeeding.

I know you're upset about the 'Noles, but Michigan basketball is kinda fun to watch this season. I love that the former Michigan center decided to build his team around a bunch of bigs, kinda saying FU to small ball outside sh1t. It will be interesting to see if they can handle a UCLA team that can shoot well.

I'd never heard of hero ball but that's a great term. It's like playing NBA2K and building up a HOFer based on being a selfish hog. That's the template. Ugh.

I stole it from Gopherhole...its what their main criticism of Marcus Carr and Richard Pitino's offense was.

I don't mind Michigan basketball, mainly because I was in the U of M hospital for a couple months in 2013 and ended up having half the people working on the floor visit repeatedly since I had the tourney games on while other people had FOX News or re-runs. I mock Michigan football endlessly, however.

UofM hospital system is excellent. Glad things went well for ya.

As I've gotten older I find I don't have the same dislike for the two Big 10 schools in this state. Except in hockey, more against Michigan than Sparty though. We did own Ryan Miller after all. ;-)
