Colgate & Cornell @ RPI & Union (1/16, 1/17)

Re: Colgate & Cornell @ RPI & Union (1/16, 1/17)

TROY, N.Y. - Two of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's (RPI) biggest men's hockey home games of the season will be aired live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. The contests against Cornell University on January 17 and the Big Red Freakout! on February 14 against Yale University at the Houston Field House will be produced and broadcast live by TWC SportsChannel. Both are 7pm starts and can be seen in the Capital Region on channel 50.... http://www.rpiathletics.com/news/2015/1/7/MHOCK_0107150847.aspx?path=hockey

I will have to decide if it's worth going to Arlington to watch the alum broadcast at a sports bar, since I doubt that RPI-TV will be broadcasting the Cornell game.

Haven't decided whether or not to make the trek up to Troy for this weekend's games. It'd be fun with the three day weekend, but we're definitely coming up for the Mayor's Cup game. It'll probably depend on whether or not the band is playing.

Re: Colgate & Cornell @ RPI & Union (1/16, 1/17)

The RPI Alumni Assoc and the local one have been together spamming me about this. :)

Note the location.

We used to go to CCSP on lunch breaks when I worked down there in 2003. It was kitty corner from a really sleazy bar which, in retrospect, I'm pretty sure was a front for prostitution.

(This is of course irrelevant information for Cornellians, since we can't score.)

Re: Colgate & Cornell @ RPI & Union (1/16, 1/17)

Colgate's playing well. We're not. To put it another way, our leading scorer is hurt. And his team-leading point total, halfway through the season, is... 8.

RPI-Cornell could be the 0-0 tie RPI fans were talking about last week. RPI has played four 0-0 games, the last on 1/29/1927 at Amherst.

Our last 0-0 game was 2 weeks ago. We've done it five times since 11/30/2007. That does not include the 6-period NCAA QF 0-1 loss at Wisconsin in 2006.

But there's something about the RPI-Cornell series that gives reason to your third law of the ECAC. Don't be surprised to see a sieve-fest on both ends.

Re: Colgate & Cornell @ RPI & Union (1/16, 1/17)

After reading Kepler's comments on Cornell's scoring woes and how their leading scorer has accumulated only 8 points this season, I was curious about how many points RPI's leading scorer might have.

It used to be very easy to find that information on the rpiathletics.com website. But now they seem to have gone to a long-on-graphics, short-on-information format and I can't find it anymore.

Is that information available on rpiathletics.com at all? If so, how do I access it?

It's not there. The Stats link near the top brings you to http://www.rpiathletics.com/sports/2008/7/10/sidebar_351.aspx?path=hockey which hasn't been updates in several years. They all go to collegehockeystats. The current version is at http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1415/teamstats/renm. The answer is that Melanson and Laliberte have 11 each.

I don't know where it is on the RPI website, but collegehockeystats.net has it right here. I always use that site for box scores, stats, schedules, everything.

And to answer your question, Melanson and Laliberte each have 11 points on the season, though Melanson has more goals (4 against Lally's 2).
