Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

This could be a special teams game...
Stay disciplined and stay out of the box, Colgate!

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

Riley Nash lights the lamp for the Red on the PP. Cornell giant is waking up.

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

End of the 2nd with Cornell up 2-1.

Cornell was really turning up the heat late in the period, but taking an offensive-zone penalty near the end was careless.

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

End of the 2nd. Cornell 2, Colgate 1.

It doesn't take long for a lead to become a deficit. Just like last year's game in Ithaca, the Red were able to score two quick goals to get back into the game.

Colgate will start the 3rd on the powerplay. The game isn't over, but the Raiders will need to play smart, stay out of the penalty box, and play a full 20 minutes.

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

Colgate 1
Cornell 2
End 2nd

Disappointing to give away the lead like that at the end of the period. 1st goal was tough, scrum in front, the puck got loose and the Cornell player was closest. Sloppy penalty at the end, and that's one too many for the Red PP. Knowing how well this team responds to deficits, I'm not worried yet, but they've got to do a better job getting shots on goal and generating chances in the 5x5

About what you'd expect in a game between 2 ranked teams, hoping for a tight finish and a Colgate victory :)

Some stats from Live Stats:

Shots: Colgate 17-16

Faceoffs: Cornell 27-18

PP: Colgate 1-3 (currently on PP), Cornell 1-4

Scoring Summary
1st Period

Cor-PPG R. Nash from B. Nash, Krueger

3rd period is about to start in Ithaca. Colgate is on the powerplay. Let's go 'Gate!!!!!

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Tuesday 11/24/09

Colgate scores on the PP to tie the game ... maybe?

EDIT: It will go under review.
