Colgate 22-23

Thanks Rightnut. Really looking forward to the season. Lots of talent coming in to try and replace the great players who graduated but that will be a challenge. Every graduate was a rock and a major cog in the team for the years they were with us. Totally dependable on both O and D. Hard to find so opportunities abound fir their potential replacements...

I agree. If the freshman perform it should be another strong season. Bringing back loads of talent - 4 of top 6 forwards, and all but one D. Most of the grads were 3/4 liners although losing Nemo and Rosy will be felt.

Rosy and Nemo were definitely on my faves list but the twins were money in the bank too. Not fancy but strong on the puck and scored a lot of unexpected and important goals...

Just noticed on the Women's Twitter site Kas Betinol a talented forward from UMD and the China Olympic team is transferring in as a junior. Another Team Alberta/Pursuit of Excellence teammate of DS who I am sure she recruited like DG last year to add some more fire power to the top lines. Looks like the bar for this year's seniors is set very high...

Great news, alum Jessie Eldridge was just named to the Canadian Women's Hockey team playing at the Worlds in Denmark later this month. She was in the last cut for the gold medal winning Can Olympic team last winter so this is karma. If you haven't seen her play since Gate, you're in for a treat...she's impossible to move off the puck and still has that fantastic sniper's shot.

Also on the great news front, present players Danielle Serdachny, Kayle Osborne and Hannah Murphy made the Can Development team (yes 2 of 3 Gate goalies) and will play in a 3 game series against the US later this week. On the US Dev team they will face teammate Sydney Bard who was fantastic on D last season. Congrats ladies and make us proud...

Had to chuckle today when I read the ECAC had posted its preseason all ECAC team. Now I am a huge Gate fan and appreciate our reps on the team but, given her Olympic and World Championship performances, how on earth is Princeton's Sarah Fillier not on this team as a top 5 player in the world this year and arguably the top candidate for the Patty Kaz award. Earth to ECAC...

Good exhibition win today against a good SLU team. Plenty of work to do especially on faceoffs but goalie play was great, we got a lot of shots (but so did SLU) and first years showed us some of their skills. Seems some players were injured as they didn't play. Will be interesting to see initial lines and D pairings next week...

Girls are 3-0, 4-0 if you count the exhibition. They are like the 1932 football team, undefeated, untied, and unscored upon. Going to be a fun year !

Shabby - were you able to watch the game on the Big 10 network? If so, how did they look? I watched the live stats feed, so it's hard to tell. Great win!!!

was at the game. PSU came out with more energy. Both of their goals were deflections and accidental own goals by Colgate. Colgate woke up in the 3rd and dominated. Finally got some breaks and won. Colgate is deeper and eventually it came through.

I watched the men on ESPN+, the girls are usually on the same.
