Colgate 2025-26

I’m happy for Dartmouth in winning their first ECAC championship. But I don’t think they played as well this weekend as they did against us last weekend. They’ll need to pick their game up for the NCAAs - I hope they will.

Clarkson Doug and I were in Lake Placid (and Cornell Greg watched on ESPN+) and we all agree… “The game tonight was dull for 50 minutes, then it finally became an exciting championship game for the final ten minutes of regulation and the entire OT.” Dartmouth Doug is a happy camper tonight.

It was a terrible game for the first 2 periods but I thought Princeton came out strong for the 3rd.
I’ll be going to the Albany regional on Friday. Where are you going Iowa? You told us earlier but I’m too lazy to go back in the thread.

Magoo, I don’t know if I am going to a Regional, let alone where I will be going (if I decide to do so). I may stay home and save money for the Friendship Four tournament in November. But, by Wednesday, I will likely start thinking how I could do Albany on the cheap. Tomorrow’s Selection Show may be a factor in my decision, too.

Barb, this whole weekend in Lake Placid, hotel rooms were nearly impossible to get, and room rates were as high as $750. Traffic was unusually high for the ECAC Hockey Tournament weekend. Buses were ferrying people out to Mt. Van Hovenberg. WTH?? Well, it was the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup, with two participants retiring after this event. Jessie Diggins was one of them. I am now at the Hotel Saranac having Sunday breakfast with Clarkson Doug when it suddenly dawned on me… CU13 told us about Jessie Diggins during the Olympics!! Jessie is married to former Colgate hockey player Wade Poplawski!! Sadly, 84-year-old Clarkson Doug does not want to go back to Mt. Van Hovenburg with me, each wearing one of my ‘Gate jerseys to cheer her on (and maybe meet Wade). Dang!! he he he

So far for next season, the only confirmed out-of-conference games are the Friendship Four on November 27-28. UConn, Providence, and Minnesota Duluth will be the other teams participating in this event. We will be the "odd team out" in this tournament as the other 3 all made the NCAA's this season.

It was also mentioned in one of the final home broadcasts on ESPN+ that we will have "more home games" next season. Each of the last 2 seasons, we played 4 OOC home games and 8 OOC away games. So next season we should have at least 5 OOC home games.

Rainman, scarily, you and I think alike.
The easiest and best way to judge Strength of Schedule is to look at the previous year’s NCAA Tournament participants. For ‘Gate next year…
Quinnipiac, Dartmouth, Cornell - 6 games.
Connecticut, Providence, Duluth - 2 games.

On a separate but related note, I heard that Maine, Boston Univ., and New Hampshire were reciprocal agreements, while Michigan State was not. And I still hope for an Amtrak adventure to Denver at some point.

From a fan’s perspective for seeing great hockey, and potential positive NPI ramifications, the opportunities are there when we play top-tier teams.
