Fish, sorry I can't help you, I always stand at the railing on the top. I think there are handrails everywhere, but not sure. These days the rink doesn't even get half full, you will pretty much be able to sit anywhere you want.

‘71 the railings are good throughout the rink. Every section has them but they have breaks in them every two rows or so so that you can get from one side to the other.

there was an interesting article about gate on the ECAC page of USCHO today.

I will say it is a positive twist to what we see on the ice, basically that we can win every year no matter what we do in the regular season (brought up our final four appearance after finishing 12th) etc.

interesting read and interesting to see how others see the program for the outside

BlackBear/Fisherman, I am a season ticket holder in Section 9 and I have leg/foot braces on both legs and I am the world’s biggest advocate for hand-railings… and Section 9 has great ones. Section 9 gets a fair few opposing fans, too. I suspect the rest of the arena has similar hand-railings, but I have never sat elsewhere at the rink. You can also buy into the Sullivan Suite, arrive early and get seats at the window (looking lengthwise down the ice).

Very helpful, thanks for the advice.

That was helpful too, Shabby, and thanks.

It absolutely blows to have to worry about railings, but until we get the surgeries, that's what we have.

Last night, on my way home from Knoxville, Iowa, I stopped to watch Penn State at Notre Dame. I cheered for former Alaska Fairbanks coach Guy Gadowski’s Penn State and they won 5-2.
Tonight I stopped to watch Minnesota State (Mankato) at Bowling Green State University. I cheered for former Omaha assistant coach Mike Hastings’ Minnesota State and they won 6-2.
But, what was really funny tonight is that I sat next to a long-time BGSU season ticket-holder and we began chatting (as I was wearing my HelmetHead Design hoodie and my Colgate Hockey knit cap). I told him that I was a Colgate season ticket-holder and that I enjoyed traveling to college hockey games.
So he asks, ‘as you IowaBasedTraveler or something?’
he he he… my reputation clearly precedes me… and it is all because of this thread!! It turns out that he is HockeyJohn and he is a rabid college hockey fan. Too much fun!
P.S. - Winning Mankato goalie Alex Tracy’s helmet was painted by my friend John Sparano of HelmetHead Design of Omaha, Nebr.

IBT...I (and many others) remain in awe of your commitment to college hockey...seriously, you should look to write a book about your travels...I'd buy it...

It was very nice meeting you. I enjoyed the conversation, but the game was disappointing for me at least.

Iowa - nobody has more fun than you!!! You are a fabulous ambassador for Colgate! Happy Holidays, everyone and, as always, GO 'GATE!!!!!

There is no book in me, but I am enjoying myself.

Tonight, in Toledo, former ‘Gate goalie Colton Point is dressed for the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets. However, he is the back-up to Rylan Parenteau. Colton has one win and four losses (and one OT loss) for Fort Wayne, with a GAA of 4.80. Rylan has three wins and one loss (and two OT losses and one SO loss), with a 3.88 GAA.

P.S. - Fort Wayne leading scorer (and former Vermont Catamount) Anthony Petruzzelli (with eight goals) has an assist so far tonight.

Indeed Shabby...and some look interesting...perhaps an early Christmas present for all of us on the thread...the glass isn't always half-full for TheCoat, save the Browns...

Let me guess, Iowa will be at Lynah tonight. Cornell-Ohio State women !

Oh, Shabby, I forgot about that game. Thanks.
I just wish I enjoyed women’s hockey more. I am very supportive of it, but the lack of checking frustrates me as a fan.

I went to the Suzanne Vega concert last night in Homer, so I knew I was going to be around this weekend. I thought about Watertown tonight and Glens Falls tomorrow afternoon, as those would be new arenas for me. The winter weather forecast (and a slight head cold), though, will keep me closer to home. De Tasty Hot Pot in Ithaca, followed by the Ohio State game, might just be what the doctor ordered. I love going to Lynah with my last year’s Frozen Four t-shirt, of which the back reads, “Colgate Beat Cornell 4 out of 5 in 2021-22.”

Thanks again for the reminder and Merry Christmas to all on here!!

P.S. - I just looked… it should be a good game.

P.P.S. - Well, I donned my fave t-shirt, went to Lynah Rink (after De Tasty Hot Pot), paid my five dollars and watched a very entertaining women’s ice hockey game. Final score: PWR#1 Ohio State 4, PWR#10 Cornell 3. They play again tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Ithaca.

P.P.P.S - Came back to Lynah on Sunday, this time wearing my fleece Minnesota Golden Gophers ‘helmet’ hat. Yesterday, Ohio State led SOG, 34-21. After the first period today, it is 20-2 in favor of the Buckeyes. Score is 3-0 OSU. Final SOG, 48-12. Final score, 4-0.

It was 2600+, then after Gate played in the championship game in 1990 they made it 2246. I remember games with over 3000 in the 80's.
In 1990 against Harvard, in an absolutely SRO crowd of over 3000 I remember the PA announcer saying that if you left the rink between periods(bathroom etc) you might not be allowed back in. I stood behind the goal, watched Donato hit our goalie Dave Gagnon in the facemask splitting him open, Harvard may have been #1 in the country, Woodcroft won it for us in OT. That was the way hockey WAS back in the day.

Wow!! Thanks both. I have become friends with young Zach Lamont this season and this morning he said it was 2,600. I had been there, 1980-85, but that sounded way high to me. I guess he knows his stuff. Thanks again!!
