Colgate 2021-22

From Vermont thread on here...

”All Hockey East games are streamed for free at collegesportslive.com and that includes (Colgate at) Vermont.”

I'm furious, I buy ESPN+ and now to watch and now they want more money for "FLO" hockey !

ESPN+ covers our home games as well as games vs. ECAC opponents. For football, it also covers our home games, as well as games against both Patriot League and Ivy League opponents.

"Flo" hockey is a different service. You won't get every 'Gate away game on ESPN+ but it's still a good deal, and you get out-of-market NHL games starting this season!

Not sure who on here is responsible for scouting future opposition, but I am hearing that the Ottawa at Cornell exhibition game on Sunday, October 17, will now be a Princeton at Cornell exhibition. I live close, so as long as the date holds constant and I can get a ticket, I plan to attend.

You don't know how mad I am !!!!!!!

Oh, I know how mad you are, Shabby. I went thru hell the past couple (of) years trying to get games on ESPN+ and missed 1 or 2 periods before I was connected. That's one reason I'm not renewing my subscription this season. No more 'Gate hockey for me (on the computer). Sad. Is John McGraw still doing the games on WSKG radio? Congrats to the team on the RIT win.

solid start and great to see three of our incoming young men score their first collegiate goals...showed pretty good speed and good depth on both front and back ends...cautiously optimistic (I must be getting soft) for 2021-2022...

I was at the game and thought the team played well and looked really good. But I have to say if greencoat is optimistic, it must have looked insane haha

before I get overly optimistic I want to see it against a couple of teams. Basically trying to answer the question are we that good or is RIT. That bad. If we see another team or two we can start to make the decision.

We have a great home schedule starting after this weekend against quality competition. Something like ten of twelve are at home. We'll know rather quickly.

USCHO.com picks us 8th...kind of surprising frankly, but oft times when rated this low we tend to outperform...writers and coaches pick us 6th and 5th...my guess is that goaltending will be the key between, say, a 5th place finish and #8...

We'll know rather quickly.

Let’s be honest…I think we already know, don’t we? Twenty-nine years with the same coach, the same ideas, the same sub-par results, and no hardware for decades. But we do have a nice, quaint arena…a great place to watch and enjoy our nationally ranked women’s team. Hats off to that entire program.

Carter Gylander in goal again tonight.
Vermont’s Stucker with PP goal.
Colgate’s Ben Raymond responded immediately with a goal (at same time a Vermont penalty was called).
Third Vermont penalty and Josh McKechney scored a PP goal.
Nick Anderson with an even-strength goal.

Colgate 14, Vermont 10, SOG after one.
Colgate 3, Vermont 1, score after one.

Good period of Colgate hockey.

Colton Young opened the second period with a beautiful goal.

Josh McKechney scored Colgate’s fifth goal to close out the second period.

Colgate 23, Vermont 22, SOG after two.
Colgate 5, Vermont 1, score after two.

Sat behind Carter Gylander that period and he made three great saves. Sitting with 43-year Clarkson season ticket holder who just remarked, ‘this is a better Colgate team than I have seen in a number of years. They’re doing all the right things.’ I can’t argue with him.

Vermont switched goalies for third period. Carriere out, Harmon in.

Vermont goal five minutes into third period by Lemay, which was followed up less than a minute later with another one by Lagunov.

Vermont 41, Colgate 27, SOG final.
Colgate 5, Vermont 3, score final.

I am thankful for Carter Gylander.

For the first time since February 2020, I got to see the Raiders play in person. And it was really fun … until a few minutes into the 3rd period when Vermont scored back-to-back goals. Then it got nail biting. But we’re scoring goals this season (so far), something that has plagued us in recent seasons. If we can keep finding the back of the net, I expect we’ll finish in the top half of the league standings.

Gutterson Fieldhouse is a great barn to watch hockey. It’s like a Starr Rink on steroids. The end zone seating is rather steep, so you have great views of the ice. UVM had their pep band and a good student turnout. We shut the crowd up in the 2nd, but when Vermont scored twice in the 3rd they roared back to life, giving the arena the “home ice advantage” that you expect to see in college rinks.

Nice win, turned it off at 5-1. Away sweep would be outstanding, when's the last time we did that ? Happy this am !

Glad for the win...can't ask for (much) more than a split on the road. Just try to win a championship giving up 47 shots though. Gutterson is an amazing place to watch a game, visited my sister there many times. Other than the student section, looked like a lot of empty seats? Good luck to our women's team against UVM this weekend.

Andrew Farrier in goal tonight for Colgate.
Tyler Harmon in goal for Vermont.
Hamre scored first for Vermont.
Colgate’s Nic Belpedio tied it up on a SHG, but ‘Gate is having trouble staying out of the penalty box. Jeff Stewart ejected.

Vermont 17, Colgate 5, SOG after one.
Colgate 1, Vermont 1, score after one.

At one point, SOG favored Vermont 10-0.
Colgate successfully defended 5 on 3 PP for two minutes. Crazy period, but Andrew Farrier and PK came up big.

Vermont 25, Colgate 13, SOG after two.
Colgate 1, Vermont 1, score after two.

Game settled down some in the second, but it is still pretty intense. There is no love lost between these two teams and there is still one period to go. Two minute penalty to Alex Young to open the third period.

Matt Verboon scores on 5 on 3 PP early in third.

Vermont 44, Colgate 18, final SOG
Colgate 2, Vermont 1, final score.

I appreciate Andrew Farrier.
