Colgate 2020-21

As Wicked Slappah reported, I just ran in to an RPI fan who confirmed that no fans will be allowed in to RPI games this fall/winter. Only college admin, faculty, and associates. No fans again. The Engineers must be fuming. What about '65 Arena? Are we gonna be allowed in attendance for our own games? Anyone know for sure?

RPI's President, Board of Trustees and, most likely, faculty, are doing a wonderful job trying to ruin RPI Hockey...the Engineers players and fans deserve better...

Not quite true. No off-campus fans will be allowed. Students will also be able to attend.

It may be a good thing to play Vermont early in the season because UVM has sucked for over a decade and finished COVID 1-10-2 last year. New coach sounds promising. Wish I could say the same about ours.

And the Minnesota women come to Hamilton. MINNESOTA?! Both games at 2pm, rotten. May have to sacrifice (?) watching football in Worcester for the first time.

good for the women and Greg Fargo...he runs a nationally-recognized and very successful program...teams WANT to play the women because they have become a measuring stick for other programs...as TchrBill says...wish this would happen for MIH...I do too but not holding my breath...maybe .500 or a few games above for this year (TheCoat is in an optimistic mood today)...

This afternoon, I received an email from Laura Sgrecci regarding renewal of my Colgate MIH season ticket. I will post the contents here later today, but basically it appears the cost has remained the same as it was (with an additional charge of $5 if paper tickets are requested this season).

Off-Topic #1... how much money did Colgate Football/Athletic Department receive for being a sacrificial lamb in Boston? My guess is that it was a significant dollar figure.

Off-Topic #2... the Colgate WIH team may meet the Golden Gophers for a third time this season if both advance (or both don’t advance) in the November Nashville tourney.

As promised...

Fans attending indoor athletic events at Colgate this season will be required to present documentation of full vaccination, recent recovery from COVID-19, or a recent negative PCR test result. I encourage you to thoroughly review Colgate’s spectator policy. I recommend checking this policy prior to each event, as local and national public health conditions could result in adjustments or changes to our spectator guidelines.

We are so grateful for your continued and loyal support of Colgate men’s hockey and we hope to see you at the Class of 1965 Arena soon.

Go, ’gate!

Sincerely,

Laura Sgrecci
Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs & Strategic Advancement

Fuming is an understatement. Glad to see the folks at Colgate are kicking the doors open to the faithful. I'll definitely be out to watch some games at '65.

Although I’m a Cornell sports fan for 40 years, as the parent of a Colgate sophomore I’ve been following Colgate teams with greater interest the past year plus. So I ask your learned people, what the heck has happened to Colgate football the past few seasons? Obviously getting blown out by BC was going to happen, but I watched most of the Stony Brook game and Colgate was dominated pretty much the entire contest.

On top of that Colgate soccer, which has been a perennially strong program, is 0-5 and I believe has been shut out at least 3 times.

I’m used to watching lousy Cornell football for most of the past 4 decades, but I thought my son would have a better football experience up in Hamilton. But so far it looks like he’s in for a lot of what I’ve suffered through with the Big Red.

Can we please just use this thread to concentrate on the failures of the Men’s Ice Hockey team without branching out into the failures of the other Colgate men’s sports?

Sorry Iowa, Gate football is always going to be a topic for us older alums who thought football & hockey were the only two sports Colgate played. I was not encouraged by the effort on Saturday, though it was nice to see Shabby for the first time since Covid started! One advantage for football over hockey, the tailgates are warmer...

I hear the over/under on todays Bill & Mary game is 51+. Any truth to this?

Sorrry Iowa but what Gate 83 says is correct. Besides, while hockey has not started up yet, why not discuss the failings of our FB program?

"Failings of our FB program"? Truly a conversation that could occupy several threads...save men's basketball, how 'bout the failings of our men's athletic programs? But I agree...can't wait for hockey but why not evaluate the elephant in the room?
