Colgate 2017-18

Re: Colgate 2017-18

Not a bad summary from Nathan Fournier today...

No. 17 Colgate only had one non-conference game this weekend and fell to Army West Point on Saturday afternoon 3-1. The Raiders will have to find consistency in scoring if they want to stay in the polls and more importantly in the top half of the ECAC standings because there’s only so much Colton Point can do.

Re: Colgate 2017-18

We need to beat UConn, need to keep the optimism growing. Two losses to end the year would definitely sting after the great and unexpected start.

Re: Colgate 2017-18

UConn can be beaten. Now 5th in HE, they are 5-7-1 in the league and 7-11-2 overall. They don't look like a high scoring machine with 56 GF and 58 GA overall. We do need to win this game to go into 2018 on the upswing.

They just beat UMass 8-2 and have scored 14 goals in their last 3 games.

If he makes it, the last game is Jan 5, Q-Pac comes to town that night and Princeton the next.

Re: Colgate 2017-18

Off to Springfield (Mass.), Hartford (Conn.), Hanover (N.H.) and Schenectady (N.Y.) this weekend.
All will be new rinks for me, other than the old Hartford Civic Center.
Army West Point's Tate Rink was number 69 for me, so these will be numbers 70, 71 and 72.
Go 'Gate!

Thompson's nice and Achilles is shaped like an igloo or dome. Bathroom is hard to access at Union, only at one side(like Class of 65) ugh.

8-8 SOG. Colgate 1-0, after one. Good goaltending. Good game. Very enjoyable evening in Hartford. Now 2-2 after two. 21-15 SOG in favor of Colgate.

Special teams cost us the game, 0-6 on the PP and the winning goal scored with about six minutes left with UConn skating five on three. Then the fourth goal scored on the remaining five on four. Very disappointed heading into the break.

Re: Colgate 2017-18

Finished 2017 above .500 but with a sour taste in our mouths. We know what Vaughan will say...we're a young team which is code for no accountability. We're spiraling toward our preseason predictions, so this is no real surprise. Point can't stop them all, but he is regressing and is inconsistent. For the game to fall apart in the end the way it did, the team as a whole needs some stronger leadership from the top, down.

Re: Colgate 2017-18

AAUGHHH!!!!! After a 6-2-4 start, we go 2-4 to finish the 2017 portion of our season.

After splitting on the road at Western Michigan, we lose TWO games to teams with sub .500 records. Wonder if our players are looking ahead to final exams?

It’s a sour taste, but I hope the time off gets us back on track come January.

Re: Colgate 2017-18

OK...Now that constant negativety is creeping in let's look at the big picture.

We have exceded expectations by a long shot. Predicted for last place by one poll we are firmly in fourth place in ECAC standings at 4-1-1 with games in hand. The real season starts in four weeks with just league games left, it is going to be very exciting, and, we control our own destiny. I predict we get at least home ice first round this year, will be very disappointed if we don't.

If someone asked two months ago would we be happy at Xmas break at 8-6-4, and ECAC fourth place, would we have taken it ? Absolutely ! Goal scoring is up, GAA is down, we right the ship on our PP and we'll be just fine. I prefer to think the future is bright not dim.

Hope all our posters here have a Merry XMas and get pumped for January !
