Concerned about playing smart or spending time in the box. Penalties made the difference in last night's game between Clarkson and St. Lawrence!

Right on, Cornell has one of the best pp in the country, we can't afford any dumb penalties. We must have discipline tonight if we are to get a huge road win and stay on top in the ECAC rankings.

How about lowly Dartmouth's win over the Eli...at the Whale? There's no telling what we can do at Lynah based on the results of this season's ECAC games. Just got to play disciplined hockey and stay out of the sin bin. We must avoid them having any man-up situations.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Heck of a start to the second period. Now how to capture that throughout the game. Seriously stupid penalties crushed what could have been a great win at Lynah. To be fair to the team, any point at Lynah is a point that I did not count on at the beginning of the season, so it was a good night. Finn made some ridiculous saves and we had some golden opportunities to get the final goal, but we cannot continue to take penalties. In both instances the 2nd penalty (to cause the 5-3) was not a goal saving penalty. we need to learn DISCIPLINE. Umass seems to try and get under peoples skin so I worry about our composure next week.

On a side note, did anyone notice that the Lynah crowd was not as rowdy as normal?

Yup: the student section has been pretty quiet and uninspired this season. Most of the noise from the crowd came when Goulakos and Gentzler were in the box and got into it with some townies, leading to Goulakos squirting his water bottle over the top and earning a stern warning from the linesman.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

I paid the $9.95 to see live video of last night's game. It was worth it. Though the camera angles could have been a bit better, the overall picture quality was great.

But I must agree with some of the previous posts. Lack of discipline, as well as an 0-for-6 effort on the power play, resulted in us getting 1 point last night instead of 2. Yes, this is a game we could have won. But I'll take the tie. We capitalized on Cornell's miscues early in the 2nd period, but they capitalized on our penalty trouble in both the 2nd and 3rd periods. I'm a bit surprised we started Charlie Finn in net but he played really well, making 26 saves. We also held Cornell to zero shots in overtime.

Don't look now, but we're 3-1-1 in road ECAC games, 4-2-2 in all road games this season.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

You don't mess with the fans as a player. There's no excuse.

Aww c'mon. Give me a break. Maybe in the NHL, but in college hockey anything goes :)

We get a point, but a potential W was there for the taking. As many have stated, it's all about discipline and having a PP.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

As I said pregame, it was all up to the special teams(or the refs) to determine the outcome. We were quicker, they are bigger, it both showed at times. Finn is now 4-1-1 in ECAC with a .910 SAA. He's got the job now. Think we're 5-2-1 in last eight games now, #2 nationally in SOS.

And...We stay in fourth place and AHEAD of Cornell for at least a month:D

Only three of those games were home, going 3-1 vs Union, RPI. Clarkson and SLU on the road. If we win at home after the break we could get a bye. The schedule is in our favor now.

Our RPI went up after this weekend, we are very close to beating a lot of teams ahead of us in the Pairwise, I'll take where we are now at the break and be happy.

I agree there are no excuses for reacting to the fans, however, punishment is not one sided either. In any arena either, A) security is brought in to calm the situation or b) the fans are removed, but not surprisingly Lynah security did neither.

The game at Starr should be fun

Re: Colgate 2013-14

It goes without saying...a 2 goal lead is the worst kind but I am thrilled with the league point!
Despite being intimidated on the pk and taking additional penalties, the fact that we kept the Big Red off the score sheet 5x5 is terrific. If nothing else, being on the pp [hopefully] means that at least it's two minutes when they won't score! Was disappointed by our Captain, though.
Great to hear you playing proud, pep band!
Would have loved the hoops upset at G'town!!! We're due for a stunner!!!

Re: Colgate 2013-14

We garnered six votes this week in the USCHO poll, Cornell went from fifteen to fourteen. St Cloud is now #1 and we gave them all they could handle, meanwhile Ferris is now #4, we shut them out and were leading in the third in the first game before losing. We also beat #8 Clarkson away and #10 Union away. This team is going to surprise in the second half. We have Union,RPI,Cornell,Clarkson and SLU all at home, it's going to be exciting.

Heisenberg shows another recruit for next year. Mike Panowyk, Whitby OJHL. Sixth leading scorer in the league and picked to play for Canada in the upcoming World Jr Tourney. Looks like a good one. We now have three forwards and a goalie coming in.

Weburg the Swede played for their U18 and U19 teams.:) We have two defensemen coming but not until 2014-15, would be nice to get a couple for next year.

Don't know if Austin Smith got released or just trying a new opportunity but it appears he is going to play in Finland

But they're sure quick to remove students. I'm glad you picked up on the double standard.
