Re: Colgate 2013-14

Aaaaaagggghhhhhhh we just swept the North Country, IN the North Country!

Before tonight, the last time Colgate swept an ECAC travel partner pair on the road was way back in February 2006, against Union and RPI. That year, we shared the ECAC Cleary Cup with Dartmouth. But I don't EVER remember us going up north and coming back with 4 pts. WOW.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Congrats on an excellent weekend. I will have to go back on the SLU thread and withdraw my comment about last nights game being a "bad loss" for us. Your team certainly proved their mettle tonight with a very nice comeback win in a tough place to play.

We on the other hand regressed further. Our penalty kill is awful and who would have ever thought that having a four year stater in net who is going to break the SLU record for most games played, would now turn into a weakness for us. Our penalty kill is awful and goalies can't make the big stops when we need them.

FABULOUS come from behind win for the 'Gate!!!!!! Not sure how long it has been since we swept the North Country IN the North Country. I'm sure 'Gate Radio mentioned it on his broadcast, but I was watching the game on the Clarkson feed. Nice to be tied for third with Clarkson as we take on Yale/Brown at home next weekend. Congrats to the players and coaches on two great victories!!!

Re: Colgate 2013-14

It was huge getting secondary scoring and not just from the Spinks. Corcoran, Audi, helps tremendously. Darcy Murphy is really coming on, like his play. Spiro is staying out of the sin bin . Our PP is brutal, maybe last in the league. Four of the next five are home, National Champion Yale coming Friday. At least a split next weekend keeps us in the race until after Xmas, that would be nice.

Nice weekend for Colgate. You guys are making me re-think my ECAC weekly picks::)

I can take sharing 3rd place in the league with Clarkson right now. Who'd a thunk it? Have to do something about the PP though. That will come back to bite us if we don't fix it. The come-from-behind win has to have a positive mental impact on our players. We'll need to throw everything we have at Yale on Friday.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Any celebrations related to this 4-point weekend in the North Country should be over by now. The defending National Champions are coming to Starr Rink this Friday night.

Have we ever hosted the defending national champs before?

Re: Colgate 2013-14

great to see contributions from Audi, Harrison, etc. Again, the key is to get gradual improvement from the freshmen, spread the scoring around to take some pressure off the Cornwall boys...the ability to come back both nights in period #3 is great...will take a split this coming weekend and go 5-3...league very well balanced, obviously...would love to see DV be able to legitimately roll four lines when necessary, a luxury we really haven't had since late in the 2000 season. Please 'Gate continue to make me look like an old, *****y, cynic...

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Absolutely correct. Secondary scoring that is :)

LOL. Coat had that coming....(jk)

I see Clint Bourbonas has been pulled from the Yale roster. Don't know if this will affect us, but seems to me he has been one of their top players and a thorn in our side the past 3 yrs.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

We garnered four votes in the polls this week. We have played the toughest (SOS) schedule in the ECAC at #13, closest to us is Union at #19. We are #23 in the RPI ratings.

USCHo does not calculate Ratings Percentage Index correctly, due to the new factors for this year. You're actually higher, around 18th.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

KRACH on collegehockeynews has at number 11 and the third toughest schedule played so far (only Miami and Minnesota are currently better)

Anybody know when they might finalize this new pairwise and have it up and running on USCHO? Most teams have now played about 10 games.

I e-mailed Chris Lerch about this, and he mentioned they will be addressing it in January.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

I was looking at our SOS as compared to the rest of the nation and we have definitely had a tough stretch here (with the only gimme being RIT and maybe Princeton). I wonder if the "restructuring of the leagues helps us, and the rest of the league, more than we noticed.

With the western leagues getting split up, the "tough" western teams don't get all those league games to build up their SOS. I think you also see this in the rankings, with 8 ecac teams getting votes or ranked

All this means is we might not have to be a 6 loss team to get into the big dance
