Congrats to Kurtis Bartliff on being picked up by the ECHL ____ team..... (forgot the name of the team) :)

Re: Colgate 2013-14

'Gate Hockey just sent instructions for watching streamed games via the new PL network. Take note on the athletics home page for the link. This is good :)

Was not too excited to see Albany stuff us on fourth down near end of game! Another game we shoulda won. Last year we started 0-3 and won the league..so there is hope

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Nineteen days to Ferris State and no comments ? Will be a big barometer.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Coming into this season I cant help but look at what coulda been if Wagner stayed for his last two years.

But as we know we cant think about what coulda or shoulda happened. This year we will go as far as the Blue Line and goal-tending will take us. We have a powerful enough offense which was on display for the first half of last year and I believe it will perform again. I worry about the green (relatively, 5 fr+Soph) blue line as we lost a lot of depth there in the off-season. Hopefully Spiro will be healthy and will be able to general the defensive line.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

I see we have only two games showing as televised, RIT, and Minnesota in the Mariucci Classic, disappointing. Also, the schedule shows Cornell now as back to back, not months apart. Was this changed or is this because the outdoor game was cancelled, which would have taken away our home game with them ?

Where are you seeing this? Both Colgate and Cornell web sites still have the games listed as Dec. 7 and Feb. 8.

As for the USCHO TV schedule, local Time Warner in Syracuse likely will show 1-2 additional Colgate games. However, nothing has been announced yet. I would imagine there will be a mention of the TV schedule just before the season starts. As purely a guess and not to be taken seriously, I would say the TV games would be Yale, St. Lawrence and Clarkson.

Just confirmed with two different people that the games are on Dec. 7 (Cornell) and Feb. 8 (Colgate). The back-to-back schedule for Colgate-Cornell that is shown on the USCHO Colgate page (which I believe is the page Shabby is referring too above) is incorrect. The actual school web sites have the correct dates.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

Thanks Shabby for starting it up...Hokydad made a comment regarding one of our incoming frosh several posts back...I assume you are being slightly sarcastic (?)

Re: Colgate 2013-14

After sitting thru the "wind tunnel" that was the Kerrdome today - and witnessing pehaps the worst fb game in some time - I'm ready for the puck to drop :(

Re: Colgate 2013-14

I was told by a most reliable source that the funding needed for the new rink is in place and will get the BOT okay in 2 weeks. The new rink will go where the soccer field is. Go 'Gate!!!

CU - is it going where Van Doren Field is now? Or do you mean where the practice soccer field is? I thought originally it was going where the field hockey team plays.

Re: Colgate 2013-14

I was wondering if the rink was ready to be built. Last week I received a letter from the school indicating that the board had approved the construction of the rink. It sounded like they were ready to go, but broad enough to make me think that it was a last minute effort to raise funds. I am glad to here that it was the former.

Just over 1 week to the start of the season, any predictions on how the season will go (ECAC/NCAA's/Cornell Games)? Who will step forward and take the starting goalie position?

Long time hockey fan first time posting. Hope you don't mind an outsider's view. From some of last years numbers it appears the biggest opportunity in ECAC play would be in your defensive zone. Limiting shots per game and regardless who will be #1 in net is getting more quality starts from that position --- team only had 7 quality starts and you won't win much with that #. Your offense should be improved but if you don't get improved defensive zone play may be hard to make a big leap in the standings. In my mind you are looking somewhere between 7th to 9th.

Welcome aboard 1988. What you said is correct, our offense will be above average, the question mark is the young defense and who will start in goal. Finn's numbers last year with Kingston were 2.1 GAA, .941 SAA, and eight shutouts in thirty nine games ! I can't wait to see him. Mihalek and Finney can both be very good but lack of consistency hurts them. It will be quite a battle.
