Re: Colgate 2012-13

Good Lord !:D I have some good news and some bad news. The funding now stands at 24.2 million which means only 100k has been raised in the last month. They want to start building in August, but I was told not until they reach the 25M. The location has changed, from behind Starr to Tyler's Field on College St. I think this is a much better spot, for visibility and parking etc. But, the phase will take two years, which surprised me, won't open till 2015, I was hoping for 2014. I guess Tyler's Field will be moved, maybe behind Andy Kerr ? All I got.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Tyler's field is still behind Starr. Are you talking about Van Doren field (the soccer field)? Interesting how the funds started to slow down, do you think there is any cause for that? When is that 24.2 million number from? They are saying that the building of the rink will take two years? It is what it is, when it gets completed it will be fun to watch a game there. But I too was hoping for this to be the last season at the old barn.

Looking at Google Maps, why couldn't they just develop on some of the open pitches right next to Tyler's Field? That's what we did when ECAV was built (I know we're different divisions in those sports, but you may have seen it on a recent trip to HFH). Obviously keep one or two available for the club teams (not sure what you guys have), and you wouldn't disrupt the varsity fields already there.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I called Eamon DelGiacco the man heading the fund drive, that's where I got this info. He said Tyler Field and 24.2.

I assume the pitches next to it? Or are they completely digging up Tyler's Field? That wouldn't work too well for the other sports (lacrosse, field hockey, etc.).

Re: Colgate 2012-13

My guess is that they are trying to move all non-soccer sports to Andy Kerr. Men's lax is already there, shouldn't be too hard to move the other sports there as well.

As far as the fields next to Tyler field, I don't know if 'gate owns them, and if they are even part of the incorporated village of Hamilton. It wouldn't seem to make much difference but I know when 'gate built the new apartments on 12B there was some hesitation to incorporate that land so Colgate could build them. (Don't really know if this is an actual concern, but would explain why it is Tyler's field and not the space around it

It's within the limits that at least Google Maps draws. The undeveloped field to the south, however, is not.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Interesting thing I noticed from a quick glance at the schedule; Colgate does not have a two week break at any point in the season.

Does anyone think Vaughan intentionally did this to stop the second half slump?

Seems like the only logical reason to split up Cornell weekend

December 15th to 31st is 16 days, therefore a two week break. ;)

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Looking at the upcoming schedule we have the best non conference games in quite awhile. October has two with Ferris St at home, two away at Bowling Green, and then St Cloud St for two at home. Ferris and St Cloud will be a super test, these are teams that will determine our PWR and make or break us.
Then Q-Pac and Princeton the following weekend at home. UMass home for two in December, what a schedule. The Russian Red Stars Jrs on New Years Eve at 4 PM . I like it !

Agree 100%. The only AHA opponent is a perennial top 2 team in the league and a FF participant in the last 4 NCAA Tournaments.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

stick a fork in the Cape Cod Classic...since Roach is now AD at Fordham maybe he can schedule a game between the Rams and some other team to keep the "mojo" going...1000 people, 12-hour total busride, etc.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I see the updated page now says 24.3 million collected so far. It has slowed to a crawl. C'mon all you "deep pockets", get the fish hooks outta your wallets !!

For the love of god, PLEASE tell me they are not going to delay the start due to the fact that they are $700k short of the total goal. In my view, raising $24.3 mil in a short time period, in this economy is a major achievement.
