Re: Colgate 2012-13

Better not replace our home game...should be a neutral site non league game.

Non-conference schedule is all full. Colgate would need to drop someone to add the game if it's a non-conference game like the one a few years ago at the Prudential Center.

If you look at the ticket brochure, the Cornell game isn't mentioned. One would then deduce that Colgate would be the team to give up the home game.

In this case, I think it would totally be worth it for the one-time experience of playing an outdoor game at Yankee Stadium.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I may be selfish but I don't like the idea of taking away our biggest home game of the year(with our biggest rival and our only sellout)!!

Re: Colgate 2012-13

As much as I would want to see a game at Yankee Stadium I think it is unfair to the normal fans who have supported this team to bring the biggest game of the year to NYC. I am not a fan when SU does it and I am not a fan when Colgate does it. There will be many fans that cannot make the trip and therefore miss out on an important part of the season. Don't get me wrong I will be one of the first to buy tickets, the game will be fun, but it sends a bad message to some of the fans.

Secondly, if it is the home league game it shows that Colgate Hockey is weak. I obviously do not know how the "home team" would be decided but unless it was/is a coin flip Colgate looks weak. We all know Cornell wouldn't have been willing to consider giving up a home game, so we would have to concede to get the game.

I'm with those who don't like giving up the home league game at Starr for this trip to NYC :(

Without the home ice advantage we lose a lot. It could be the difference between having a bye in March or not, if we lose. Not good! (Besides, I hate the Yankees :)

Union and Harvard played a conference game at Fenway Park two years ago. I don't remember hearing any complaints about that game from Union or Harvard fans.

Keep in mind, nothing is official yet nor has it been announced.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

The reason I don't think the union and Harvard game caused nervousness throughout the fan bases is that the game was going to be played in Cambridge, moving it to the Back Bay was not a big move. I'd have a hard time believing that anyone who wanted to see that game at Harvard couldn't get to Fenway.

On the contrary, I think a number of fans will be left out if it gets moved to the Bronx. Secondly, it is the biggest game of the year moved to a neutral location.

That being said I love the idea, and gate radio is right we are ahead of ourselves here, with nothing announced

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Cornell schedule is out. Colgate will play Cornell on Dec. 7 in Ithaca and Feb. 8 in Hamilton. Kind of an odd arrangement but I've seen stranger. Any possible game at Yankee Stadium in New York City would have had to happen in late January because that's when the Rangers play their two outdoor games.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I, too, have fixed feelings about this...to be honest, it's the only home game all year where our laid-best students come out with any numbers and enthusiasm at all...if it works as a recruiting tool (and that may be questionable) then fine...

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Thank God it's home. Guess they didn't announce the name of the new rink at the Slater golf tourney.
