Re: Colgate 2012-13

UHhky,

It seems to me that you have a very personal ax to grind since the majority of your posts - exclusively in the Colgate hockey threads dating back to your join date - have been about the school needing to fire its' coach or coaches and that Don is essentially a bum.

Did you, your son or relative's son not play enough or at all? Give it a rest.

Seriously, DV isn't going anywhere and your attacks are growing tiresome to most on this board.

I mean is there some other, non performance related figure you could pull up that would maybe justify Don job because I cant find one.

And of course we should take what you say as the truth because Colgate doesnt employ you or allow you to follow the team around on the road and broadcast the games. Surely there's no reason for bias on your part.

Why is it that as "fans" all we care about is on-ice perfomance? There's a whole lot more to what DV (or any other coach) does than wins and losses. While the fans may not be able to accept these "limitations", the administration has to be looking at a much larger picture than what anyone here sees. Are the 'Gate players graduating with academic success? Is that not also a part of the coach's job?

While I enjoy a winning season as much as the next guy, I realize there's more to it than that. In a down year, or after getting bounced from the playoffs, it's easy to lay blame at the coach's feet, or the administrations perceived lack of support, or whatever crutch you want to lean on. The bottom line is that we're talking about student-athletes. The student has to be larger than the athlete at the end of the day. As fans, we tend to forget that.

OK so then we can make Don the faculty-athlete liaison and get a new coach??? Seriously man, I posted CHARTSSS.

And unless Don is accompanying players to class and doing their homework for them then I'd reserve the academic accolades for the actual players and their teachers, not a coach whose most rigorous academic standard is maintaining a 3.0 and attendance at a once weekly study hall (for freshman and those below a 3.0 only).

Re: Colgate 2012-13

I will "reiterate" one more time for you "allmighty know all naysayers". Don Vaughan is a fine coach and respected by all the coaches in D1 hockey.

If you are blind to the facts, show your ignorance of what he is limited to "every dam year". He's not a magician, what do you expect with what "assets" he has to work with, or I should say "lack of assets".

Look at what he has to deal with...Q-Pac with a state of the art facility, twelve to fifteen recruits every year, hopefully our new rink will bring in better prospects in a few years.
Q-Pac knocked us out of the playoffs a few yeas ago in their crappy rink with all those guys that were recruited while they were in Atlantic Hockey. Other teams like SLU get it done in little out of the way towns with subpar rinks. I too am sick of all the posters who look past the record and settle for a mediocre coach and then complain every year when once again we are below 500 and get knocked out early. If you want results, get a new staff. otherwise stop complaining on here.

Quinnipiac already had the Bank in 2008-2009 when they knocked us off in the famous three-game, three-overtime, dramatic first round series.

UHhky's son played(mostly didn't) and he has an axe to grind ! Pretty pathetic to still hold a grudge, he's one of the parents that were on here last year moaning.

Shabby I don't have any sons ya jackazz.

Who are you, Don's mother? Back up some of your claims with actual data and then make a legit argument. Your game is weak, son.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Ad hominem arguments don't change the fact that Don's record is about as impressive as Lefevre's slapshot.
