Re: Colgate 2012-13

Why in the world is this feed talking about the Yale play by play announcer? I understand the rpi guys getting into it as they have nothing else to discuss, with the bye. I feel oddly confident going into this weeks match up, in the playoffs we have played SLU very well. Being up north doesn't help matters given our recent history. I hope mihalik plays well, and the team gets a boost because it is a new season. Win and move on lose and go home

Only because Shablak feels that you need certain body parts to call a hockey game.

You guys did tie SLU up there, and the other game didn't seem too out of hand from the score sheet. I wouldn't be surprised if this came down to the wire in the third game.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Carvel told CHN's Josh Seguin in an email that Flanny's status will be determined later this week, but if there is any possible way for him to play, he will.

Should he a good series. I'm kind of worried, especially if Flanny can't go, but hopefully both teams put forth their best effort and make it a great series.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Special teams and goaltending have been on a roller coaster lately. If we get a late lead we need to hold it at all costs. I don't see many teams dump the puck quite like Colgate. Shoot every puck toward the goal and see what happens! A series against SLU has "hitting after the whistle" calls written all over it. Hope it doesn't get ugly and that we play smart, disciplined hockey. Hope the pep band is going.

Congrats to the women on their playoff series. Something to build on? Anxious to hear about Fargo's first recruiting class.

I have been to almost every SLU home game for years and I can't recall vet seeing the Colgate band there. At least not anytime recent.

As a pep band alum, I can say for sure that I've been there probably 2 times with the band (though I'm not sure how much I would count the playoff series in the '06-'07 season when only about 7 or 8 of us made the trip...). As for whether the current band will go, I do not have an answer, though I would hope they would at least consider it.

And I agree, disciplined hockey will be necessary. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about this weekend, and hopefully everything will go just the way we want it to so we can play another weekend or two...or more

Now...I am "so" biting my lip I am bleeding. Bottom line "I thought she did a poor job" that's all, and it wasn't because she's a woman. More comments about "that" then hockey here ? I started this thread thirteen years ago to talk about "positives" and "negatives" of our current hockey team, the players, stats, special teams etc. I "try" most of the time to be positive even though it is very difficult at times(like now).

If I'm not" politically correct" I am very sorry, just tired of all the "mamby pamby rhetoric" here. These posts are starting to become a "microcosm" of our fan base, pretty sad.

Not to belabor this whole stupid subject, but, if you practiced what you are preached above and limited your comments to the positives and negatives of the current Colgate team then there would not have been any thread hijack or backlash. When you tee things up, they sometimes get hit.

Re: Colgate 2012-13

Our problem is that we cannot finish a regular season well. The past two years we have been "in the tournament" (according to the Pairwise) at the break. Each year the team couldnt buy a win until the playoffs. This is tough on a fan base because you build up the pressure only to fissle out on the launch pad. I am just hoping for an NCAA berth in the near future, so that the fan base can get behind the team. At this point I would be ok with them just getting to the dance.

There has been a lot of talk on here with regards to the depth of the team. Although I agree that we have very little room for error or injuries, I do not relate the fizzle to the lack of depth. The top line guys for every team play every night, with little change. It isnt as if other teams rest half of their lineup each night. If we were hit with an injury bug that caused us to have to put a foward in at D or visa-versa then we could blame the depth.

I think the holiday break takes a lot out of our teams while others come back with a vengence and energized. I dont claim to have the solution to the 2nd half issue recently but it definitely has been noticeable.

Lets hope we deal with our Appleton demons and come out of the weekend with 2-W's.

You didn't say "I thought she did a poor job." You said:

Unfortuneately they had a woman doing the game, not very good.

"Also", I'm not "sure" "you" understand how "quotes" work.

You don't owe anyone an apology, Shabby. Maybe we need one of Colgate's stellar "Peace and Conflict Studies" majors to settle this thing. I guess there really is such a program at Colgate if you can believe it.

Back to matters of importance... I think it's highly important for this team to get a win first Friday night if they want any chance at winning this series. The way they have been playing and the bad beats would only make it that much more difficult for them to rebound if they lose Friday.

Go 'gate

Shabby...those of us who are actually committed to this site know that the above is a fart in the wind...stay thirsty, my friend...

No need to beat on one of Colgate's programs or the students that pursue it to defend another. Those programs are part of what makes Colgate unique, just like having a Division I athletics program in a school with 2,800 students.

That's not the Colgate way, though, we like having our backs against the wall. IF (big if) we win the series, I say it's with a loss on Friday and wins on Saturday and Sunday. Last year was an anomaly. That said, I think the Appleton demon continues to haunt us and we're done in two.

Prove me wrong, Colgate, please!

Geesh...thanks a bunch for your confidence.

How dare anyone on this thread badmouth Shabby! He's the Man!
