I totally agree, and clearly, Osiecki had the program going in the right direction. For some reason, the players didn't want to play for him, though, and made that known to the athletic department. Later it came out that he was supposedly abusive to the players, but the details of the whole thing were never made public, so who knows. The timing of Osiecki's firing (April, 2013) hurt OSU regarding hiring a new coach. They probably didn't have too many candidates to choose from and the players lobbied for Rohlik to get the job, so Gene Smith and the athletic department took the easy way out and just hired Rohlik. We see how that is working out. Hiring a guy because "that's who the players want" isn't always the best idea. It certainly isn't working out in this case. The team is undisciplined and hasn't learned that hockey is a 60-minute game. There is talent there, but rarely have they played a 60-minute game. The only time this season where I recall Ohio State putting together back-to-back good games was the tournament down in Florida back in December where they beat Boston College 3-2, then Cornell 8-0 to win the Florida College Hockey Classic Championship. They haven't done squat since.
