Coaching changes 2013

Re: Coaching changes 2013

Anyone know if Stevenson has a coach yet?

So the Stevenson roster showed up on the collegehockeystats.net website and it has the following listing:

Head Coach: Tracy Johnson - formerly the Assistant and then short lived Interim Head Coach at Amherst
Asst Coach: Joey Lye - formerly the Assistant and then Head Coach (1 season) at Williams

Congratulations to Coaches Johnson and Lye! Their leadership and dedication will make a strong contribution to women's hockey at Stevenson and expansion of the sport in the mid-Atlantic.

Re: Coaching changes 2013

Probably not because most of the coaches are in their rookie year of head coaching and had no responsibility for building the team they currently have. One exception would Dave Venditi at UNE since he is a veteran coach and they are earning some wins already.

I think there are other more varsity coaches that are probably on their last legs given how long they have been with their current teams.

This all pales compared to the shocker at UNH today.

And a few more insights from these comments out of an AP story:

"The 40-year-old Church, from Toronto, did not specify whether it was his players or Hockey Canada management that had questioned his competence.

''Just discussions I'd had over the last few days made that apparent, in some meetings I'd had with leadership,'' Church said. ''I think it was just difference of opinion on the direction we were headed. In the end, I just decided if I'm getting in the way of where the team needs to go, I need to step aside and let them continue on in the process.''

Asked if Hockey Canada tried to convince him to stay, Church said, ''No, they did not.''

I'll bet $1 Hockey Canada was not pleased that he let go of Bonhomme
