Ok, it's important not to be over dramatic and distort the nature of how bad climate change is.
it's the hottest day using a measure that began in 1979. "Recorded history of the planet" feels like a huge distortion. Yes, that's when records began for this particular measurement. But weather records often go back hundreds of years.
When a statistic is younger than the Brady Bunch, maybe don't frame it as "recorded history of the planet"

The main reason to not be over dramatic is to not discourage people from taking action. Michael Mann is probably the best at this messaging.
Our planet is burning to a crisp and will soon be unlivable for humans, but let's not be overdramatic because it might hurt some oil executives' fee-fees.
That’s not it at all, come on.
if people think we’re past tipping point they’ll take foot off the gas. We still have time to reduce carbon footprint and lessen the damage

Exactly. Just like during the dotcom boom - the ultimate winners were not groceries.com and furnishings.com; it was target.com,Walmart.com, etc who ultimately prevailed. The only two exceptions I can think of (retailers who started on line and made it big) are Amazon and Chewey’s.The companies that make a killing with renewables will be the current fossil energy companies, so, from the POV of investment, it's a wash.
