Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

Did you guys see something that I didn't? I didn't see Marks do anything wrong.

High hard elbow/shoulder/stick on Fontaine several seconds after he had passed the puck. Late, but not caught by the refs. Sandelin has a conniption about it.

Ok, I didn't see it either but the b2 feed really started to go haywire in the third period. It was chippy on both sides in the third. At least 3 times tUMD took runs at LaVeau in the third. I guess that's what tends to happen when one team is getting manhandled and it starts getting chippy.

His stick hit him in the throat and he's sitting out with a concussion...

Great rationalization..."Well, you can't blame my guys...they suck. You have to expect they will lay a cheap hit on the other team's best player knocking him out of the line-up."

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

That wasn't quite the rationalization but things do get out of hand when the game is out of hand, as last night clearly was. However, taking runs at defenseless goaltenders also tends to create some animosity.

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

Well, that play from Rufenach is just plain indefensible. I hope the tUMD guy is ok. Definitely deserving of a 5 and a game. Down to 4 defensemen now, sigh.

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

Was the sick guy a defenceman too?

We have 2 guys out tonight. Our captain Scott Freeman was both sick and injured and is taking the night off because he couldn't really skate in the pregame. Defenseman Jerry Crowe is apparently sick as well, so we're skating with 11 and 5 per the tUMD announcers. Now it's 11 and 4 with Ruf being gone.

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

tUMD announcers talking about the referee's intent to blow. There are so many comments this good hockey fan could make.

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

And the goal doesn't count. Of course we have no explanation. At least one thing is consistent across conferences.

Clarkson is now 1 for I think 7 in replay reviews this season. :D

Funny story for you UMD folks. We have a chat for Clarkson fans. Last night, one of the guys says "that Connolly guy is amazing. He's all over the ice."

So I say, "well, there are two of them."

His reply, "Well that makes sense. I was just going to sign him up for the Hobey now."

Hilarious!!!!

Flaherty going to the box AGAIN.

C'mon, guys......

These refs are control freaks. They probably should be with what is going to happen in the 3rd......

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

A penalty shot?

A. He got a shot on goal.

B. It wasn't a clear breakaway.

WORST CALL EVER.

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

Meh. I'd rather have the two minute penalty.

In hindsight, of course.

I was thinking that actually. Karp is great on breakaways and the save left the Dawgs on the PK. As is, no harm, no foul for the Dawgs.

Just saying, I've never seen a shot called either when a SOG is registered or when it wasn't a clear breakaway. The turnover happened 15 feet in front of the net.

Re: Clarkson at UMD, Saturday 10/31 - Happy Halloween

I guess the officiating theory for the evening is that if one team is on the PP, neither team will get involved in any shenanigans for fear of losing the PP or going down two men.

Goal!

M. Connolly from the point! Tipped?

3-1 tDogs!

M. Connolly from Fulton and Bordson.

Bordson in on all three tallies. Nice.
