Unsolicited take, since I was at the game, and not on the air, which hasnt happened in years, it was kinda enjoyable. RPI really couldn't get out of their own way for the first two periods. The first couple minutes they looked really crisp, but then Clarkson started backchecking and lifting sticks. RPI couldn't solve that. If it wasn't for Watson, RPI would have been down 3 or 4 after 2. Watson was really sharp tonight. The first goal was a result of an RPI defensemen losing his stick and then he was isolated on the point man who took the shot, well placed under the armpit of the RPI player. Great natural screen. The Nykanen goal was a carbon copy, minues the no stickeed defenseman. Once RPI solved the Clarkson forecheck and backcheck, they dominated the third period. RPI could have had three more goals. It's almost like they weren't communicating with each other at all, and then once the second goal was counted as good the started talking to each other alot more. The OT was played excellently, however, it seemed like they wanted to show off their skills. Good thing Smolinski scored the goal, he was the best player on the ice. Strom looked very lost to me, as far as positioning. Heideman had to me a breakout game.
