CHN Tweets new D-III program announced on Friday

Re: CHN Tweets new D-III program announced on Friday

U of R was my initial guess too, but I guess it could be any of them.

Re: CHN Tweets new D-III program announced on Friday

likely UR... the genesee valley park ice arena is just off campus. fisher hasn't had an ACHA team in a few years, it doesnt seem. UR still has theirs.

Re: CHN Tweets new D-III program announced on Friday

I was told Nazareth was one of the schools exploring the options of D-III.

Could be them.

Re: CHN Tweets new D-III program announced on Friday

ECAC West? + Keep Utica + Canton = only two Pool C bids up the line...

Isn't there a concern for all D-III sports (NORM!!!) that Pools A is getting too big at the expense of Pool C??

I have also heard that they are interested in men's ice hockey, however I don't think they will be the ones announcing on Friday.

My money is on St. John Fisher. ;)

Can someone remind me what the latest is that we have heard on SUNY Canton's move to D-III?

I can't remember. I think the last thing I remember is it was their goal to move all athletic programs up to D-III by 2016 at the latest

Is this still the case or has men's hockey been streamlined?

Because, if Friday's announcement does mean an additional team to the ECAC W, SUNY Canton joining the ECAC W could factor in Utica's decision to leave/stay.

I was told the SJFC was looking to attract more international students; adding hockey programs would certainly increase the likelihood of that happening.

If it is U of R, I'm not entirely sure they'd join the ECAC West. The schools currently in the ECAC West don't have the academic repertoire that U of R has, and a school that has been consistently wary of who they associate with, I'm not positive they fit with the ECAC West.

I know Naz has envied Elmira's hockey program at times, but the overwhelming number of women at the school would create Title IX issues, if I'm not mistaken.

Roberts Wesleyan is an NAIA school.

I have a source who claims it is not U of R.

I am leaning towards St John Fisher now I think...

If you want to attract male students, start a hockey team???

Quite true.

Not the only reason by any stretch, but that was somewhat of a player in St. Scholastica's decision to add football a few years back.

Should I just say now it's SJF?

If that's a fact, not surprised at all. They'll probably play at the MCC Sports Center unless they're going to build a rink on campus somewhere. Natural fit for ECAC West as they are already in the E-8 along with Elmira.
