The WHL has officially awarded a franchise to an ownership group in Chilliwack, which was the hurdle remaining. One member of the ownership group will be taking on a big role- former NHL head coach Jeremy Colliton will be the Governor, GM, and Head Coach. Included in this ownership group are two NCAA guys- Brett Motherwell played at BC and former NHLer Mason Raymond played at UMD. Motherwell is a Managing Partner for Kassel Mechanical and Raymond is president of a car dealership in Alberta. The team will begin operations for the 2027-28 season.
