CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

What a difference a day makes. RMU gets 4 goals from Nathan Longpre and beats Quinnipiac 8-5

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Bemidji State beats Huntsville 2-1 in overtime! Beavers remain unbeaten, Who Hates Huntsville!!!

Yeah... forget the "Blue Man Group" or our vote for the Ninja Turtles. The real winner of the costume contest should've been the team that masqueraded as the RMU hockey team Friday night!

Derek still wasn't happy... shots on goal numbers... coaches...

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Matty freakin' Read. That kid is one hell of a hockey player.

Bakala looked solid in net.

Weird game with no flow, but the Beavs really seemed to choke the Chargers' offense the first two periods, save when the Chargers had the man advantage. I know that the fans are upset with the power play right now, but they're doing something different than what Doug Ross always did and it's gonna work, given time. Beavs' speed and forechecking made the difference early on, and it probably would've been a wider margin had there not been so many penalties.

Both coaches were upset with the officiating, and I think they both had a right to be. I mean, 11:13 of the first: matching minors, hooking and diving? On the same incident? He either hooked the man down or the guy dove. Both really can't have happened, right? Oh well.

Nice flow in the third---no penalties [although a couple could have been called, both ways], good puck movement. Chargers really took it to the Beavers, who were on their heels much of the period. Ruffini with another roof shot to tie it up.

OT. Matt Read. Bonehead defensive play, and Read capitalizes. Like I said, he's one great hockey player.

Let's pick up the split tomorrow.

It's still a young team, the fact they've played so many big games for being so young makes me forget that it still going to take some more growth time.

Forget Friday night, take the lessons and move on, the important thing is how they responded, and they came back the next night and took down a ranked opponent, one that had previously swept tOSU in Columbus this year.

Those shot totals look really bad, but when you take penalties against a really talented team like that, it'll happen sometimes. I was more concerned about giving up almost 50 on Friday night, with only one penalty kill situation.

Yes, it can.

You can get legitimately hooked.

And you can embellish your reaction to it in an effort to draw a penalty (or a more serious one).

Both at the same time.

And it doesn't shock me that both coaches would argue it in an effort to get his team an advantage.

That matching call occurs 3-5 times a weekend.

Trust me, that one call was NOT what both coaches were upset about... One in particular that really got the UAH bench in an uproar was a Beaver player slashed one of our guys, broke his own stick, and one of the refs (whom shall remain nameless, mostly becuase he wasn't wearing one) gave us the slashing call!!! Literally the entire team and bench was screaming at him that the other guy did the slashing. When he came to the bench the coaches were asking him to ask for help on the call and he wouldn't ask for help nor change his call. So we had to kill off a penalty that should have gone against BSU. Incidents like that are what both coaches were furious about all night.

I've seen that call before too, and I don't have a problem with it. Perhaps it sends a message that embellishment like that is not going to be tolerated in a tight, close game like that was.

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

:sigh: Can't score. Getting good chances, nothing going in.

Both BSU goals were broken plays where our guy muffed it and their guy made it happen [Read in regulation on a beautiful breakaway, Kinne in OT].

It stinks to play that well and get no conference points out of it.

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think we should change the " I hate Huntsville " chant to "We love Huntsville" It's almost like 4 points in the bank when the two teams meet.:p

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

I think its safe to say we own huntsville winning 8 straight games against them dating back to last year.

Re: CHA Thoughts and Prognostications: Year 11, The Finale...

Nope, HSV Sports, LLC, owned by Keith Jeffries. I think the next "flood their mail/in-boxes" drive for SUAHH is going to be him. Fraking idiots. ...

The Havoc are more than just a paying client at the VBC.

http://huntsvillehavoc.pointstreaksites.com/view/huntsvillehavoc/team-30/staff-9/keith-jeffries

I've questioned the appropriateness of a civic entity developing such a close partnership with an individual ever since it happened. The VBC/Havoc relationship would definitely be a concern of mine if I were a CCHA a.d.

Bemidji has picked up a verbal from Radoslav Illo from the Tri City Storm of the USHL.

http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3924064

Also, former Beaver Luke Erickson is playing with the Rapid City Rush of the CHL. Also in Rapid City are former Beavers Brendan Cook and Blaine Jarvis.

UND is a no go. However, I think it will be an option to keep on the table for future series...........

****, that would have been "suite"! Our Thanksgiving plans would have worked out for it also. Oh well, I will keep it in the back of my mind for the future.
