CCHA Pick ‘Em 2025-26: Arrivederci Rico!

Congratulations to our sole week 5 winner AgentClass who outclassed the entire field with 26 points on the week! Major stick taps to (who else) AgentClass who demonstrated an unshakeable belief in the CCHA by being the only contestant to correctly pick Lake Superior to top Clarkson on Saturday. There were four contestants who correctly picked the Lake Superior/St. Lawrence tie on Friday (AgentClass, CFBHome, iowabasedtraveler, and StevieYNot) none of whom were Footballguy51 who picked all the other OOC games as ties. Tough break. I'd like to give a quick shout out to the entire field who correctly picked Augustana to top Northern Michigan on Friday. No blood drawn in that game, at least as the Pick 'Em contest is concerned.

Another week means another leader atop the standings. The field is now chasing the pace set by GoNanooks who is now 2 points clear of Puckdude40 and 3 points clear of NoClue. GoNanooks remains in the lead in the Battle for the Beagan and is one game/3 points ahead of MTUHuskyGold. Here are the current standings:
Code:
Contestant Points % Games
GoNanooks .663 62
MTUHuskyGold .647 63
puckdude40 .641 63
NoClue .636 63

The bonus is back for week 6.

While it's still early to be thinking about the playoffs, it's never too early to start thinking about snagging one of those coveted first round byes. Based on an early projection of the number of contestants still in this thing at the end of the season we're looking at anywhere from 3 to 5 byes. If you want to improve your playoff seeding, get those picks in!

For the bonus this week, are we considering the Tuesday game to be part of the "weekend"? Adding up 9 games vs 8 makes a difference.

Our lone week 6 winner with a total of 31 points (missing only BG's SO win over the Mavs on Saturday) is Tommiealum93 who was a full 3 points clear of our second place finisher this week! Jeers go out to the three folks who missed one pick on Friday while the rest of the field went a perfect 4-for-4 (no need to mention names, you know who you are). Not much in the way of stick taps to celebrate this week. However, we do have a new name atop the leaderboard. MTUHuskyGold becomes the latest contestant to stake their claim to the MacNaughton. That's 6 different leaders through 6 weeks. Wow, this thing is wide open this year!

There were a total of 45 goals scored this weekend. Congratulations to iowabasedtraveler who was the only contestant to claim all 10 bonus points. Nineteen contestants picked up at least one bonus point this week, here's how it went:
Code:
Contestant Bonus
iowabasedtraveler 10
Manurespreader 9
GA_Husky 8
SectionP 8
StevieYnot 8
Tommiealum93 8
mbenecke 7
MTUHuskyGold 6
SweeneyHawksHockey 6
iwearpurple 4
TalonsUpPuckDown 4
AgentClass 3
beaverhockeyfan 3
giwan 3

BGSURICK 1
CFBHome 1
We also have a new leader in the Race for the Sauer. iowabasedtraveler's monster performance has put them in the driver's seat with 16 points. Manurespreader is one point back with 15 and Tommiealum93 is two back. Here's how this one stacks up:
Code:
Contestant Bonus
iowabasedtraveler 16
Manurespreader 15
Tommiealum93 14
mbenecke 13
StevieYnot 11
SectionP 11
GA_Husky 11
iwearpurple 10
While we're on the bonus, I haven't mentioned that in the yearly bonus Michigan Tech has scored 5 goals in a CCHA match this year which is the currently the most. Four 4 contestants are currently looking at an additional 3 bonus points at the end of the year. This can be found in the standings in the "Team/Goal Bonus : Pts" column. These bonus points are not included in the Sauer calculation until the end of the year.

Lastly, we have a new leader in the Battle for the Beagan with MTUHuskyGold now two points ahead of GoNanooks and 4 points ahead of Puckdude40.
Code:
Contesetant Points % Games
MTUHuskyGold .668 72
GoNanooks .663 62
puckdude40 .649 72
NoClue .644 72

Lots to get to this week so let's get after it. Congratulations to SweeneyHawksHockey for besting the entire field this week with a total of 26 points. Considering that the second most points this week was 22 and the field average was only 16 that's a pretty good haul. Stick taps to CFBHome who was the only contestant to go a perfect 7-for-7 on picks.

Another week means another contestant atop the leaderboard. Give it up for StevieYNot who is now looking down at the rest of the field. Will he be able to maintain his tenuous grip on the MacNaughton for more than one week? He'd be the first to do so!

Moving on to the bonus, there were 77 assists this weekend helped in a large part by the wild west shootout that took place at the Slate with the scoreboard showing a total of 21 goals. Congratulations to SweeneyHawksHockey who was the only contestant to pick up all 10 bonus points. In total, seven contestants picked up at least one bonus point:
Code:
Contestant Bonus
SweeneyHawksHockey 10
iwearpurple 6
StevieYnot 6
TalonsUpPuckDown 5
SectionP 4
Berger21 3
puckdude40 1

And with this win our new leader in the Race for the Sauer is none other than SweeneyHawksHockey who has a 2 point lead over StevieYNot and 3 over iwearpurple and iowabasedtraveler. Here's how the race stacks up:
Code:
Contestant Bonus
SweeneyHawksHockey 19
StevieYnot 17
iwearpurple 16
iowabasedtraveler 16
SectionP 15
Manurespreader 15

Speaking of the Shootout at the Slate (TM), there's a new combination on the yearly bonus goals. Bowling Green is the team and 9 goals is the mark. There are now 5 contestants looking to pick up an additional 5 bonus points at the end of the year.

Lastly, looking at the Battle for the Began we see GoNanooks back in the drivers seat with MTUHuskyGold lurking a couple of points back.
Code:
Contestant Points % Games
GoNanooks .677 69
MTUHuskyGold .671 79
puckdude40 .662 79
NoClue .662 79

The bonus is back again this week along with an added kicker. Picking Northern Michigan to win over the Beavers in Bemidji is worth double points (6 points for a Wildcat regulation win, 4 points for an OT/SO win, 2 points for an OT/SO loss, 0 points for a regulation loss). If you think this is the weekend the Wildcats get off the schneid, pick 'em and win!

By the way, the 2025-26 season is officially 1/3 in the books. Time flies.

Boy have I been bad at remembering to make picks this year. Last time I forgot I didn’t even realize until I looked for the weekend results and didn’t see my name. I’m really giving myself a challenge this year.

Boy have I been bad at remembering to make picks this year. Last time I forgot I didn’t even realize until I looked for the weekend results and didn’t see my name. I’m really giving myself a challenge this year.
The good news is you're still meeting the minimum number of games to challenge for the Beagan though your missing games are messing up my automated "points behind" calculator ;-)

Week 8 is now in the books and congratulations go out to our weekly winner giwan who posted 23 points this week which was one ahead of iowabasedtraveller. Well done, sir! Apologies go out to the 7 contestants who took a gamble on the extra Northern Michigan points this week. I guess the Wildcats didn't set the tone. Eight contestants went 7-for-8 on the picks this week. Stick taps to StevieYNot who is the first contestant this season to stay atop the leaderboard for two consecutive weeks. Remember that it takes three in a row for it to be considered a streak. Question: any relation to BG's Brandon Whynott? Brother? Cousin?

Turning to the bonus, there were 102 penalty minutes this weekend. This bonus turned out to be a lot tougher than imagined as only 3 contestants picked up bonus points. beaverhockeyfan and iowabasedtraveler led the way with 4 bonus points each while giwan picked up 2 bonus points.

We have a new leader in the Race for the Sauer with iowabasedtraveler now claiming the top spot over SweeneyHawksHockey by one bonus point.
Code:
Contestant Bonus
iowabasedtraveler 20
SweeneyHawksHockey 19
StevieYnot 17
iwearpurple 16
SectionP 15
Manurespreader 15

In the Battle for the Beagan, NoClue had a great week missing only one pick and posting 21 points. However, our leader, GoNanooks, missed the same pick and posted the same 21 points so there are no changes at the top of the leaderboard.
Code:
Contestant Points % Games
GoNanooks .705 77
NoClue .688 87
Icd80 .672 87
StevieYnot .664 87
MTUHuskyGold .660 87

The bonus is back again this week along with the usual NMU kicker. Picking Northern Michigan to win at home over Mankato is worth double points (6 points for a Wildcat regulation win, 4 points for an OT/SO win, 2 points for an OT/SO loss, 0 points for a regulation loss). If you though last weekend was the weekend, then surely it'll happen this weekend. Right? Gotta set the tone, though.

There is a slight adjustment to the scoreboard as one contestant was late with their entries and should not have been given credit for the Friday games (thank you cfan). Updated standings below:

There are no changes to the Sauer or Beagan standings as GoNanooks still meets the minimum number of games to compete in those two contests.

There are a lot of post-Thanksgiving updates so let's get after it. Congratulations to our week 9 winner, Tommiealum92, who posted 27 points on the week! Stick taps to Puck Master and Tommiealum92 who were the only two contestants to correctly pick the Tommies to sweep the Huskies. Finally, stick taps to, who else, Tommiealum92 for being the only contestant to correctly pick the Lakers to upset the Vikings on Friday.

StevieYnot's two week run at the top of the leaderboard comes to an end as NoClue now assumes the top spot by 2 points with MTUHuskyGold and mbenecke tied for third. While we're at it, GoNanooks recent reign atop the leaderboard in the Battle for the Began has ended as none other that NoClue now boasts the highest pick percentage. Here is how that race currently stacks up:
Code:
Contestant Points % Games
NoClue .698 97
Tommiealum93 .678 86

MTUHuskyGold .669 97
puckdude40 .662 97

As for the bonus this week, there were four 1-goal games at the end of regulation, 1 game tied at regulation, one game ending in a shutout, and one game going to a shootout. If you add all this up and take the square root, you find that GA_Husky and iowabasedtraveler led the way with 5 bonus points each. Everyone in the field picked up at least 1 bonus point.

For another week no blood was drawn in the "When will Northern Michigan pick up their first point?" sweepstakes. We'll give them a break for week 10. As for the Race for the Sauer, iowabasedtraveller leads the way by 3 over SweeneyHawksHockey.

All hail Footballguy51 who is our week 9 winner posting a total of 22 points. Congratulations! We had to wait a bit longer for the results as it turns out when you spend $700 million (or whatever the number was) on a brand new facility in the middle of South Dakota you probably have to do a quality check on the ice plant. But putting that behind us, there are some overperformers this week worthy of some stick taps. So, stick taps to SectionP who correctly picked the Lakers to win on Friday and to CFBHome who correctly picked the Bulldogs to upset the Mavs on Saturday. But let's rise to our feet and give a standing ovation to Footballguy51 who for the fourth straight year will have the pick of the season. He threw the proverbial Hail Mary by correctly picking Northern to upset BG on Friday, the Lakers to upset the Tommies on Friday, and the Bulldogs to upset the Mavs on Saturday.

NoClue remains atop the leaderboard for the second straight week with a 3-point lead over StevieYNot. Will they be the first to post three in a row and make it our first streak of the season? Once again there is not much change in the Battle for the Beagan with NoClue remaining in the lead:

Now on to the bonus. The staff at Pick 'Em HQ tallied 57 penalties called over the weekend including two game misconducts. There were two contestants who picked up the full 10 points. Shout out to Icd80 who was spot on with the penalty picking. As for the second, if you guessed Footballguy51 you did better picking the winner than picking the number of penalties called. WHAT A WEEK FOR Footballguy51!!

There was some slight movement amongst the leaders in the Race for the Sauer but not enough action to knock iowabasedtraveler from their perch at the top.
