I don't think they had a good look at the play for whatever reason, because their description did not at all accord with mine. CJ made up a lot of ground to try and keep a puck in that would've been cleared all the way down the ice, and just went in a little too hard. Not a smart play necessarily, but I think at that point you have to take chances like that (which is why you pull your goalie in the first place).
Bottom line, if all our penalties were like that one, it'd mean we're playing some really hard-nosed hockey. Obviously, you sit him down and remind him of the points you make, but it wasn't a benching-worthy penalty, or anything close to it, in my view.
Did not view it-radio made it sound like it was an unnecessary bit of aggression. With the kind of officials we get, you just cannot allow them to take the game out of your hands. This one may end with an empty netter anyway-but you just cannot take the chance of taking a penalty with 2 minutes left in a one goal game. If you saw it and say it was legit-then I would agree. Sure sounded questionable though.
