Always good to get that first win. Now lets see if we can keep it up.
Canisius did not play their best game last night, so we need to be ready for them tonight.
Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night we had two consecutive unassisted goals by defensemen. I have tried to look back as far as I can and I could not find that has happened for RPI. If anyone has the ability to research this better, please try and let me know if this is the first time in RPI history. It may have happened before but I cannot find it using College Hockey Stats (but I could have missed it) going back to 1999-2000 and then from my own score sheets back through 1990. I have older records but not here and could check those when and if we head back up north.

Plenty of Gimlets left for tonight, eh Doc?

J: I used to be able to handle when we scored 6 or even 7 goals. But age has had some effect on my tolerance. Besides, those last 2 goals came rather close together for me. Thankfully they were not scored by our Flying Frenchman since if I had done two Louis XIII cognacs i would not be typing this now. All kidding aside, I know it is only 4 games (Union included) but we have shown some flashes of what this team might be capable of. There have been some shifts and even an entire period or two that have been fairly poor efforts, but when this team puts it all together, they are very tough to play against. Tonight is another test against a team that now knows how we play (and what they might do against us). We should get much more information about what we have this year going forward.

Have we ever played a team with 7 transfers? Five of them are grad transfers. This Canisius team is a very experienced group and the boys put in a very solid effort to beat them soundly last night. We may not have the most talented team but when they put in a strong, disciplined 60 minutes they are the kind of team no one wants to play. Goaltending will be key. I hope we get to see Watson tonight.

P.S. Yes, I know that we will see even more transfers at LIU, but they are an extreme example of roster construction - creating an entire team in a summer.

We have 6 ourselves. There are a lot of transfers all over, so I think that the answer is "if we haven't we will often in the future".

Hoping for Watson over Miller tonight assuming that Marshall has the night off

I think Marshall deserves a lot of credit for the game last night. In the first two periods he made several tough saves (and actually 3 that i would characterize as very tough). I also think that his concentration was very good all game and the two goals given up were more a function of our entire team letting down when up by 4 goals than anything he could be responsible for. One of his better games. I too, though, would like to see one of our other boys if not both tonight perhaps even splitting the game. it is a long season and we will undoubtedly need to call on them at some time.

DiGrande out tonight per AHA suspension. Unsuccessful return to HFH for him.

When the hit occurred yesterday i though they mentioned on the broadcast that he was out for the current game but was eligible to return for tonight. Guess they had it wrong.

He was eligible by NCAA rules, but the AHA can issue its own suspension.

Thanks for clearing it up. I always get confused when they talk about a game misconduct versus a disqualification. Personally i did not think the hit deserved more than a two minute penalty but i can understand the ref as they have an emphasis to call these on any hit to the head area (but I did not think his hit got up that high). Waiting to see our line up listed for tonight
