Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

This conversation is happening in every civil servant's home right now.

Dr. Mrs. works for an agency whose very mission is threatened by the Trump regime's rhetoric. They exist to protect people's civil rights and civil liberties. Luckily they are statutory so he can't just wish them into the cornfield. Congress could always knee-cap them but that's a pain to do and it would be better to just leave them in place as window dressing.

Both Dr. Mrs. and I seriously considered quitting outright for the damage we could be a part of. For now our take is wait and see -- we can always pull the trigger. In the meantime, we can do our jobs correctly and keep our eyes open for the invasion of ideological insanity that damages our institutional controls. There's also whistle-blowing if bad stuff happens so fast we can do nothing to prevent it.

Everybody with any degree of self-knowledge has asked themselves the hypothetical, "would I be a Good German if {your morally difficult situation here}"? Hundreds of thousands of civil servants first, but then contractors in general, will have to face that question for the next four years. My advice to them is to stay and fight the good fight. Slow them down every inch of the way. Keep the machine transparent and honest. Use the hundred tools of bureaucratic sclerosis to weather the storm.

During my idiotic youthful flirtation with libertarianism I had a t-shirt like this one. Roughly it translates as, "do not join evil but fight all the harder against it." Or, as Victor Lazlo said, "If we stop breathing, we die. If we stop fighting the Nazis, the world will die."

I'd heard 1/3 on XM-POTUS but 1/4 is best I can find.
If they all did it all Trump would have to do is not backfill the jobs and he's "cut government spending".

The rumor on the Hill is Trump is going to institute a hiring freeze across the entire government except, of course, DOD and DHS which will only grow. I assume the FBI and whatever Trump's SS will be called will grow as well.

This is the Apotheosis of Reaganism. The idea that government is the enemy of the people, and not the instrument of the people, is so spectacularly stupid but even more spectacularly useful to the 1%.

My only consolation is I climbed high enough that when they kick the ladder away I'll be up here. But those poor white working class dudes with their Trump yard signs are so totally f-cked. Irony, it's what your federal benefits will be after Ryan gets done with Medicare and Social Security.

Suckers.

This is what America voted for.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

In thinking about it a bit more, it's such a good move for Trump I should probably consider deleting the idea before it gets out.

Trump meets with the FBI, the AG, and selected members of congressional subcommittees that have investigated Hillary... and after much "serious consideration of the potential charges against her" and "For the "Good of the Country" -- he decides to pardon her.

He could totally get away with it.

While it is a good idea...the mouthbreathers that want her in jail yesterday and elected him because of that will turn on him. Trust is fleeting...

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

I'm glad we're paying our federal employees enough to just quit based on who the CEO is. :-/

This isn't the answer.

No it isnt...I mean it is one thing if they as you directly to to do something you cant stand but quitting now or early on wont hurt him. It hurts everyone else because it is one less check against him.

The Great Deal Maker would get something from the Clintons in return before cutting her completely loose.

I put a link to an article about that talk into one of these threads a couple days (weeks?) before the election and was summarily poo-poo'd by Rover et al because I was allegedly pimpin' Trump and Michael Moore is nuts.

I didn't vote for Trump (but could see it coming), and Michael Moore was right: We've just witnessed the biggest F-U in human history (and from the Brexit states Moore called out, no less).

Of course you were poo-poo'd. He poo-poo'd everyone who saw that the voters didn't want her. And now the suffering starts.

I agree. I would also understand if we're talking about someone forced to approve contraceptive payments if his or her religion forbids it. Those kinds of moral and ethical dilemmas are important for people to make when deciding if they stay at a job. They really are. Which is not to say that they should be allowed to stay at a job and not do their dam job because their religion forbids it.

Re: Campaign XXVI: The Drumpf World Order

Ugh. I'll watch Reverend Al for the laughs and Rachel for the eroticism. Other than that you can flush the network down the tubes.

mookie has the Yellow Fever, you got a thing for mannish women?

What? You'll make more in the private sector.

At least, that's the mantra of the wingnuts.
