I made a promise and I'm keeping it. He's getting my 25 bucks donation since I wanted him to run. I can't wait to see some of the campaign literature I'm going to get as well!

Oh man...if Cruz wins the nomination the Dems could run a half drunk cup of coffee and win. The RINOs, the middle and the left will flee from him!

The GOP will still line up behind their nominee; even the RINOs. I don't believe we should celebrate a crazy running for the GOP nomination. There is no level of crazy that would cause Republicans to defect. It's not 1964 anymore.

The GOP is not the monster you seem to think they are. They are just as filled with factions as anyone and the non freaks are not going to just line up behind Cruz because he has an R behind his name. In fact I bet he gets less electoral votes than McCain did no matter how much some GOPers twist into a pretzel to make it seem like they like him.

Their factions have always had the self-discipline to rally around the nominee. Throw in the inevitable circle jerk of the convention when everybody makes nice, plus the campaign demonization of the Dem nominee as TEH GRAVEST THREAT TO OUR FREEDUMB EVAR!!11!, and they'll have no trouble keeping the ranks together for the election.

The real change in the last few cycles has been that the Dems have managed to do the same. They've somehow actually figured out how to be an effective political party again after a 20-year run as Charlie Brown. The question with the Dems is always, will that continue. I have a feeling Hillary will be able to herd those cats, through an appeal to sheer pragmatism. She's the anti-Obama -- he ran on "love me"; she's going to run on "hate me, but hate them more."

A shame she isn't a Republican. She missed her calling.

Yep. Every faction had flip-flops so they could chant flip flop flip flop in 2004. They all rally back to the establishment nominee cause the most important thing in the world to them is that rich people get lots of free stuff. Even if they ain't one of the rich people getting the free stuff.

That has worked when the nominee is perceived as a moderate RINO pansy/country clubber by the trailer park faction. It remains to be seen if it will work on the moderates when the nominee is a Tea Party favorite.

You must also factor in that Bilderberg told Romney, in 2012, to throw the election. He did too well in the first debate. That's why the second one was rigged. Whoever Bilderberg wants as the President, Bilderberg will get.

That's fair. If Cruz gets nominated we'll see. I assume Republican moderates will vote for whoever offers the lowest top marginal tax rate, and that's going to be the Republican. They'll assume that even if the Taliban take over, it will only affect the poors.

Cruz should be the nominee by right because Cruz is where the majority of the GOP voters are. He's the perfect nominee for them. Nobody is really a libertarian beyond the 1% of the population that thinks The X-Files was a documentary. So, Rand Paul's faux-libertarianism won't sell.

What Cruz needs to do is what the GOP field didn't do in 2012, which is to gang up and toss the big money guy out of the race (recall my brilliant Andre the Giant-Royal Rumble analogy ;)). That means Bush. Best thing for him is to win Iowa, have someone like Paul win New Hampshire and maybe Nevada, then win South Carolina and have Bush eek out a narrow win over Rubio in Florida. That means chaos going into Super Tuesday, which is what he needs if he can stay well funded. By that time Huckleberry, Sanitarium and Carson are out due to lack of funds, and they coalesce behind Cruz. Perhaps Rubio as well. The danger is Bush rips off wins in NH, SC, and FL and leaves Iowa to the nutters thus making it irrelevant. If Cruz survives to Super Tuesday which might become an SEC primary, he's going to be in good shape.

Might be time for Uncle Joe Biden to step up to the plate! Yeah, he's an old geezer, but after he fed Paul Ryan, the supposed intellectual heavyweight of the GOP, his own @ ss in a debate, I'd like to see what he does with the lightweights running for President in 3 or 4 debates next year. :eek:
