Anthony Weiner destroyed his career, marriage and perhaps Hillary's candidacy due to love of sexting. This is the weirdest man alive.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

From what I read, 3 e-mails were found on Anthony Weiner's  phone. That's the separate investigation. While Comey certainly had to disclose the fact that the FBI looked at 3 additional e-mails to make sure nothing funny was on them, he didn't need to disclose that in the manner that he did. Come Nov 9th, he should be fired on the spot by Obama and not be allowed to stay on until Inauguration Day.

I'm with rover on this. This is unacceptable. If this is what the real story was, then this was a pure politically-motivated release designed to swing the election.

I know Kepler said this office should be independent of the president, I agree. But it should also not be politically motivated. The director should strive to be as transparent as possible. Especially when dealing with an issue that could impact the election (even though short of Hillary sending dicpics, it wouldn't matter).

He has a responsibility to be impartial. This reeks of political motivations. Reeks like a sugar beet wastewater processing plant.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Rover says 3 emails, the NT Times wrote this?

The bureau told Congress on Friday that it had uncovered new emails related to the Clinton case — one federal official said they numbered in the thousands — potentially reigniting an issue that has weighed on the presidential campaign and offering a lifeline to Donald J. Trump less than two weeks before the election.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Yeah, that likely means that wiener sent or received thousands of emails from that server. Possibly includes his wife's emails.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Comey better hope Drumpf wins...cause he is going to be in the private sector soon otherwise ;)

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

I've done the same thing. Though I typically print them now that they've started to monitor things so hardcore. The printer I use isn't monitored because it's 15 years old.

Not to imply that my company has done anything shady, it hasn't, but I've protected my self a few times. Just in case.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

The fact that Comey still hasnt spoken about this to the press is mind boggling.

I seriously have zero clue what he was thinking...

Clinton campaign has already called Comey out, telling him to release all details. They wouldn't be doing that if Comey had those Clinton Foundation donations to ISIS e-mails.

PS - Media and Republicans are really going to look bad on this based on their overreaction if in fact its 3 e-mails from the government server that Weiner had on his cell phone.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

He should be facing serious scrutiny for how this was handled. He should know better and it's not like he doesn't have access to tier one PR reps.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Even IF they decide to prosecute, and find someone to take the job to prosecute, and EVEN IF that prosecutor(s) win the case....that prosecutor's career is done. No one will want to touch them again. I think that's part of the reason the FBI didn't go after her the first time around. /2cents

hmm... we'll see, I guess.

My own theory is that Clinton intimidates people. If ever people realize that she is no longer a threat to them, they will all turn on her in a heartbeat and enjoy doing so as well. It is only the threat of her retribution that keeps people in line. Remove that, well....

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

And one more thing. If he comes out and says that he didn't make a release because he was speaking to members on Capitol Hill, then he should be facing even more backlash. His #1 priority should (emphasis on should) be the public interest.

The media is understandable...the Drumpf bashing has gone limp so they need new red meat. Comey worded his letter so vague it was an easy move for them.

He better hope he finds something or that Drtumpf wins or he will be facing a level of scrutiny I am not sure he can handle. Hell it looks fishy to me that he all of a sudden pulled this move after Rudy G basically called him an idiot on CNN the other day.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Yeah the more I think about it, Comey needs to disclose the contents of the 3 e-mails and then resign. There's no way he can serve in that job anymore when 0% of the people trust him and he has the political instincts of Scooby.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

If he did this because Rudy called him a moron, he's got bigger issues than I thought. That might be the worst offense.

Rudy is quickly writing himself out of the history books. He looks more and more like a deranged old man with serious mental health issues. If he had quietly went into the sunset after he left office as mayor, he would have been forever known as an American icon. Loved by (nearly) all.

Now he's turned into FreshFish with access to national television.

Brent, the FBI didn't prosecute because they couldn't build a case that she actually did anything illegal.

I know it's that time of year when right-wingers love to tell SCARRRRY Clinton stories to little righties around campfires ("Vince Foster!...Arkancide!...OOOOOOOOH!!!" ;)), but one can act carelessly or immorally, without breaking the law. It's up to the voters to decide whether or not she's fit for office as a result. If it weren't for the drunken bear with a pumpkin on his head on the other side of the aisle, it might be a different story.

Just saying that I personally think there was enough to have a hearing. Let's get everything out in the open, under oath, etc etc etc. If she gets acquitted, so be it. My issue was that it never got to court, and the way the wording was from the FBI...they just didn't want to touch the case in any way, shape, or form.

And as has been repeated non-stop by the sensible people, just because Trump is a complete and utter imbecile, doesn't mean Hillary is a good choice (NOTE: she is a better choice, but that is very different from a "good choice.")

Edit: this latest email thing is really reaching, the more I read about it. *** does Weiner have to do with Clinton? (go ahead and make the dck and fart jokes ;) )
