Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Your analysis was that they were really smart, with irreverent humor. If you want to be upgraded from piece of **** human being to just really, really lacking in your abilities to "analyze" and incredibly naive, have at it.

P.S.-- The Mafia? Not just really shrewd businessmen in the fields of construction and garbage disposal, hayseed.

My. Testy. What is your issue? Or am I just the lucky winner of your flailing attempts to scare off someone willing to listen to and challenge all sides?

Now, on to business. You're apparently not watching Season 20 of South Park and its ongoing thread of Gerald as "skankhunt42". Quite frankly, those "skankhunt42" antics are as appalling (even toward fictional characters) as the abhorrent behavior you've referenced. Yet they go on. And yet "South Park" is considered one of the smartest and most irreverent programs out there. I can understand them (be it South Park or the Alt-Right) and yet not advocate them.

If you want to be mad, be mad at Comedy Central for putting such juvenile behavior out there for others to copy. I see the Alt-Right as the not unexpected outcome of a society that has to be continually ever more outrageous to be noticed. Shows like South Park were and are their toe hold to leap forward (or is that downward).

As far as "Mafia" (I assume you reference my joking that is the name UND should've chosen), I lived in New York for a while. I came away knowing more about the mafia than a "hayseed" from North Dakota ever planned. Why? I had a good friend with a relative who is a resident of a New York State Correctional Facility because of the "family" business. The friend told me so; and, the friend was a nice guy, good friend, but I've also walked into bars and restaurants that went silent, with cold looks, until that friend greeted me. So I knew exactly what I said when I said "Mafia". But I also have ... uh oh ... a smart and irreverent sense of humor.

Or, maybe, I should just do what is blindly expected of everyone here, namely, snear down my nose that "Orange Trump BAD." Fine. There it is. But I find just as many problems with Clinton. Heck, so does The Kos. So what is someone looking for a statesperson to run the country to do, because to my satisfaction I can't find one. YMMV.

Art Bell still broadcasts occasionally. He started a new show called Midnight in the Desert that utilizes online streaming and podcasting, and after giving the show up due to safety of his family (he claims people were firing weapons in the proximity of his property), he makes occasional guest appearances on the show.

He did have a short lived stint on SiriusXM in 2013 for all of six weeks, but he burnt his bridges with them. He claimed his listeners couldn't make the online feed of his channel work properly (which, is a common complaint about the SiriusXM app for ALL the channels), but in the next breath he claimed that his show was being pirated on third party websites and demanded SiriusXM offer his show free to everyone through his own website. SiriusXM rightfully wanted to protect their exclusive agreement with him and said no to offering it for free streaming, so Art Bell told SiriusXM to pound sand.

Is that what happened with Art Bell and Sirius? That's a shame.

This is why things like humor and satire are big boy toys that you and your alt-right buddies just aren't ready for. You literally cannot grasp the nuance. There's nothing smart, or humorous about sending death threats to someone's child.

Yeah, you don't advocate for them. You just think it's really important we "examine both sides" and give time to their racist, sexist, awful bull****, or whatever other excuse you come up with because you're too much of a coward to stand by your convictions. The rest of us don't really need to have discussion about the pseudoscience behind race affecting IQ like those smart, irreverent gentlemen believe, because it's 20-freaking-16.

You again conflate me with the Alt-Right. I don't know what more I can do but repeat what I said above: the noted behavior is abhorrent and I have nothing to do with it.

In your mind you've put me into a category, some sort of label. Want a label? I'm (wait for it) a classical liberal. Yup. I'm the guy who values freedom, individual freedom. I'll let whomever say whatever, as terrible or abhorrent as it may be (short of fire in a crowded theatre). You'll never believe me, but one of my favorite websites is The Fire because they too believe more speech, even the ugly stuff, is better than censorship of words or ideas.

Know thine enemy or go blindly into the night. The people who did that, again, abhorrent act, you'll never see me at their dinner party or websites. Ah, but alas, by them saying and doing it I now know which dinner party, websites to avoid.

Freedom is messy business, and not for the meek.

See. Was that so hard?

Now shoo, off to the darkest corners of the internet for you to see if you can find some Bill Mitchell online poll to grasp at a little bit of hope that Trump still has a shot.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Now shoo,

Thank you for proving my point so well and in just two words.

You can't stand the notion of someone willing to let all sides speak and have thoughts and ideas stand on their own merits. You'd rather have folks like that disappear.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Sounds like Justice Thomas might be in some Drumpf like hot water...

Speaking of The Donald

"Toledo, Ohio (CNN)Donald Drumpf, trailing his opponent in key battleground states polls less than two weeks from Election Day, said Thursday he'd like to "cancel the election" and be declared the winner.

"Just thinking to myself right now, we should just cancel the election and just give it to Drumpf," the Republican presidential nominee said during a rally here on Thursday."

(yes I get he is joking...OR IS HE!!!)

I dismiss you because of the merits of your ideas.

I dismiss you because of the merits of your ideas.

If you believing that allows you to sleep at night so be it.

I'll be the one here advocating for you to be able to continue to espouse it.

Clinton Eyes Biden For SecState

In further breaking news Donald Drumpf blames Biden for The Surge not working, not stopping when there was "a line in the sand" and for whatever the hell he thinks is happening in Mosul and Jyna ;)

The team that's about to lose always wants to cancel the game.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Perusing Twitter it seems the pundits think Paul Ryan wont survive as Speaker...

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Closed circuit to Kepler:

You tend to watch 538. What's going on with their chance of winning graph?

I'm seeing a shape in the odds of winning tracking now similar to what was going on in late June and mid August. There's no way the gap can close in 12 days, but the curve has hit a local maxima (Oct 18) similar to the Jun-29-ish and Aug 15-ish local maximas and the slope for Clinton is now slightly negative.

Is that just late/more polling data?
Is that "bounce" (blip?) for Trump from Debate 3?
Is it just the electoral "circadian rhythm" in action?

You know how that site works.
Is there some math that (uniquely) they do causing that down the stretch because I just don't see anything that should be moving those numbers that direction.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

We'll see how bigly.

2012 3.9
2008 7.2

Right now she looks about 6.0-6.5 up. So will she beat the 2008 margin? By all rights she ought to. What about Hubby?

1996 8.5
1992 5.6

If she floors it maybe she can win household bragging rights.

If we're still accepting hunches, gut feelings, anecdotes and hearsay... I've just got a feeling she's going to blow right through her polling ceiling and wipe the map like no one since Reagan. I'm thinking of the 1/3 or so of people who are meek and mild and going about their business, dorky kids who were picked on by such bullies in middle school (might be autobiographical), wives who show subservience to a possibly violent husband by "supporting" Trump, women everywhere who don't want to "lean in" too much with the old boys at work... quiet, sensible people who aren't saying so but can't wait to get in that voting booth and exercise their choice to send him crying to the scrap heap. Not because of Hillary, but because nobody in history has been so deserving of being slapped like Trump.
But then, I'm still kind of in disbelief that we nominated "Donald Trump" to be a presidential candidate so I could very well be wrong again.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXIII: The Penultimate Thread

Is it just the electoral "circadian rhythm" in action?

This is my guess, just a natural and predictable recoil from the most recent scandalous revelation from Trump's gruesome past being more than a few days old (possibly boosted by the Clinton Foundation info about $60 million salary or whatever that NPR has been nattering about)

Reagan pulled a 49/50. Mondale only got his home state (MN). That's going to be the league record for quite a while. (Think: Cal Ripken, Jr.)
