There should be a Jeff Foxworthy-like meme, "... you might be a fascist."

When Charles Krauthammer accuses you of being authoritarian...

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Interesting piece on whether evangies are going to finally move on from the cinnamon sexist.

Quote from Erick Erickson no less!

"Christians, if you go down Ralph Reed's path, do not expect a more moral person in the next election. Ralph Reed would tell you Satan is just a retired angel if someone wrote him a big enough check.") :D :D :D

Folks, its gonna be a bloodbath. No way is Weasel Paul Ryan at war with his own party's nominee if he thought Trump was actually within low single digits. These people are polling the races internally and are panicking over what they're seeing.

Given that the base is still loyal to Trump, and are the most vindictive people on Earth, you have to assume they're not going to vote for anybody who unendorsed him. For people in competitive races to STILL take that risk (McCain, Ayotte, etc) means things are a lot worse than we're being told by the national media.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

I know of three women on Facebook who don't get it, one women went so far as to say she's heard worse in bars, get over it. But seriously, I think it's not that they don't get it, but it's that they are consumed by their hatred of Hillary that it clouds their viewpoint. That's why I asked earlier - what it, say, Biden was the nominee and this happened? Would these women be singing a different tune?

I think the only way to get rightwing men on board is to appeal to their equally sexist but in this case useful Knight Errant narrative. It still objectifies and belittles women to say they need to be "protected and revered," as if they didn't have agency of their own, but particularly hard core religious conservatives are going to carry their sexism to the grave and the best we can do is use their form of sexism to fight aggressive, rapey sexism.

Having a black president brought the festering racism of the far right to the surface. It is now obvious that having a women president is going to bring the festering sexism of the far right to the surface. These monsters are annihilated by the light of day, so bring them out into the public view. They'll never realize their shame, but their grandkids will.

The hate of Hillary is strong. The hate of the Clinton's is stronger. The fact that they're ushering her into the White House is driving them nuts.

Let's hope "bloodbath" remains a metaphor. You could not have created better conditions for widespread political violence than the Echo Chamber and Hate Radio have done in working their brownshirts into a lather if you tried. Not to speak of the random actually unhinged types who dream of being "soldiers for Christ" or otherwise martyrs to The Cause.

The entire rightwing media circus should be served for inciting a riot.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

The amazing thing is that the men still don't get it. They think what Trump said is normal "boys will be boys" stuff. Sessions doesn't even think the act of grabbing a woman by her genitals is sexual assault.

And maybe even worse, they don't realize that Billy Bush and that smirking enabling of abusers is itself sexist and disgusting. It's not just adolescent, it's dangerous -- it's rape culture.

They don't get it and they never will.

To people like Sessions, if it isnt rape by knifepoint it is just "making a move". He thinks life is like a movie...

If you really want to blow his mind, ask him if women can rape men

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

I raise you George Will and "chemotherapy". (Fixed wrong first link.)

From the article:

Today, however, Trump should stay atop the ticket, for four reasons. First, he will give the nation the pleasure of seeing him join the one cohort, of the many cohorts he disdains, that he most despises — “losers.” Second, by continuing to campaign in the spirit of St. Louis, he can remind the nation of the useful axiom that there is no such thing as rock bottom. Third, by persevering through Nov. 8 he can simplify the GOP’s quadrennial exercise of writing its post-campaign autopsy, which this year can be published Nov. 9 in one sentence: “Perhaps it is imprudent to nominate a venomous charlatan.” Fourth, Trump is the GOP’s chemotherapy, a nauseating but, if carried through to completion, perhaps a curative experience.

Yikes.

I don't move in those circles, so how are outfits like PJ Media treating The Great Divorce of Deplorables vs Plutes? I know their origin story which would lead me to believe they had a lot of sympathy for the Deplorables via the Tea Party and Freedumb Caucus, but that link suggests even they have backed away from the tangerine tyrant.

Are they torn down the middle or are they trying to stitch them back together, or what?

Think about this...right now Hillary is the lesser of two evils FOR THE REPUBLICANS!

Only problem is George wrongly thinks Trump will cure the problem. In fact, Trump will not cure the problem. Why? Cause they'll blame Trump for what happened and do the whole shebang over again next time with someone like Cruz.

Just how depressed are these guys going to be in 4 years when Hillary gets reelected cause the party does it all over again?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

Question:

Will this Presidential election cycle finally break the two-party (uniparty?) system into something more parliamentary?

He may be a dead, slave-owning, white dude, but old GW (the original "gee-dub") saw it coming ...

"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXI: Do you love farce? My fault, I fear.

I predict that Trump may do the unthinkable: break the 40-40-20 paradigm. I could see Trump getting <40% of the popular vote.

Gary "Allepo? World leader?" Johnson is back looking more Presidential. Ponder that for a moment.
