To say either side won this debate is foolish. The only winners were those not watching

It was a wash...they both ignored questions and attacked each other.

Handy, you obviously watched something else as well, because I read your comments all night and it really made it seem like he was done for but now that two networks have declared him the winner, I can only assume you had your TV on an alternate channel.

I watched it on ABC's feed cause the gf picked that one. I wasnt missing this debate cause I knew it would be a bleepshow and it didnt disappoint

I think CNN and MSNBC are doing what Scooby is saying...they lowered the bar so low they had him as the "winner" because he wasnt as bad as they expected him to be. (he was on point with where I thought he would be) ABC brought that up but then said "the bar is so low though he didnt really win it is just a wash" which I agree with. He didnt lose, but he gained nothing. To put it in hockey terms...this is 3 game, total goals series and he lost game 1 by a score of 5-0 and in game two he tied 1-1. Sure he played better but he is still getting creamed.

Playing even isnt good enough when you are down and making no headway. Sure it stops the bleeding but you need to make real gains or you are just playing for pride. I dont see how any independent votes for him based off this and right now that is his only chance. His non-answers didnt help with the minorities and the misogyny wont help him with women. Nothing has changed except people are proud he didnt completely throw his poo on stage. While I am sure a few polls will tighten I dont see Florida changing over this or Pennsylvania and without both of those he is dead.

And again, this is just a debate...between now and #3 lord only knows what else will come out about him.

Hillary was sitting back expecting Trump to beat himself...and he didn't. He even got a solid zinger with the "you'd be in jail" line.

Trump threw enough red meat to wake up his base and he took Kittygate off the table early, which may have stopped the meltdown. Still, he looked like a nutbar and that doesn't win you any fans. Pence has to be steaming.

See if Hillary changes tactics and comes out looking for the KO in debate 3.

Just finished on DVR. Nothing really memorable here, except Trump wanted Hillary in jail and apparently locker room talk doesn't matter because ISIS! The town hall format I think works to dampen things down quite a bit. While there's a little back and forth between them, for the most part it's two people separately addressing the crowd with their talking points, so you don't get the same friction as the one on one format. With no major takeaways, I guess that makes it a wash, or more specifically a non-event, but one of them can live with a non-event more than the other given how the rest of this weekend has gone*.

* I'll give you a hint on who that one is. It's not the one who has half of his/her party's Congress/Governors not supporting him/her.

I agree on the undecided. Maybe the media counts 3rd party/write-in voters as undecided? No, they decided, and it ain't between the two clowns on stage tonight.

It was whether to strike Assad military targets if he continued to violate the truce. Trump didn't say Pence was wrong, he said (1) they hadn't discussed it, and (2) he disagreed.

I didn't find that particularly jarring, except the tone was so dismissive and cavalier.

I thought Trump did OK tonight for as long as he stayed on the topic of the question. When he rambled he sounded either like he was trying to shoehorn his talking points when they were irrelevant or he sounded scattershot and addle-pated.
